I have a normal size I-pad with a very heavy protective case on it.... (my husband bought it, so I us it) I too, was worried about it being strong enough to hold my I pad in the case. It exceeded my expectations. It hold it fine and I can turn and rotate my I pad depending on if I’m laying or sitting in bed. There is nothing cheap about this product. It is very sturdy.

Q: Anybody used this on a plane to watch movies? My cheap flight isn't going to have built-in entertainment.

I wouldn’t. To long and and don’t know what you would clamp it too. Might also be shaky
