Arcane: League of Legends - Season One Limited Edition Steelbook [4K] [4K UHD]

Unless you have Netflix, you've probably never seen or heard of Arcane. It's a rare thing - an animated show based on a video game that is actually GOOD. And don't let "based on a video game" stop you - you don't need to have played League of Legends to enjoy this show, in fact, you might enjoy the show better if you haven't played the game. Its links to the game are tenuous - consisting of using some of the game characters and settings, but the story is actually well written and well executed, and so far as I know, never having played the games, is original and not taken from the game. The art style is unique, a mix of 3D animation with a painterly overlay, and some 2D elements and is both brutal and gorgeous. My only real complaint is that in some episodes, they have hip-hop and rap elements, but this story is set in a different world and different culture, so they wouldn't have those styles of music. It's sort of the lazy man's method of setting the mood. I can't talk about the story without giving too much away, but it's the story of two sisters who are orphaned in a conflict between the city's elite and neglected underclass, and their struggles in life as they follow two different paths to... the final episode? The story ends on the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, but in a few weeks as of the time of writing this, the second season will air. If you're an animation fan, a sci-fi fan, a League of Legend fan, or a steampunk fan, this show is for you.

Arrived ahead of schedule, well packed with both copies of the Steelbook Series I ordered in pristine condition, sealed, unopened, wrapped in protective foil and not tempered with with no damage on the products. Everything that's part of the package delivered within it.Very satisfied and happy with my order since as a huge fan of the show and universe I really wanted to have these copies and Gkids only operates in the USA, so this offer on Amazon was perfect for me and I got exactly what I ordered and hoped for!

I've already viewed ARCANE on NetFlix multiple times and can confidently say that is a masterpiece in storytelling, character development and stunning visuals. However, after having received my copy of the 4K Steelbook edition and loaded it up for the first time, I was immediately blown away.This, right here, is how you get the most out of ARCANE. The sound, the colors, the lighting and detail are so rich, the fact that it took 3+ years to get a physical release was well worth the wait. As with the dramatic payoffs throughout the season, this is stellar. Another great thing about ARCANE is the art style is very unique, almost like watercolor paintings come to life so it will never feel dated. You can watch old PIXAR and Dreamworks films and instantly recognize they are products of their time. Not so with ARCANE. This story is devastatingly beautiful and timeless.I don't play League of Legends and don't intend, which makes ARCANE's existence and as excellent as it is, strangely ironic. It's undeniably an advert for League of Legends but there's so much talent and passion put into ARCANE, it is a bit of an anomaly. The fact that it is based off of a free-to-play MOBA game actually works against it as I've had difficulty convincing my friends to watch ARCANE as their minds immediately go-to 'League of Legends', which they also have no desire to play.For any fan of animation and quality entertainment in general, ARCANE in 4k is a must.

This was really well done. Top notch on all fronts: writing, animation, soundtrack, pace, subtitles, and extras.The ending caught me off guard but I am interested how a season two would tie in. Really enjoyed this one.

If you liked this Netflix show and have the proper 4K equipment (4K HDR capable TV and Blu Ray Player - both preferably Dolby Vision capable), this is a massive upgrade from the HD Dolby Vision broadcast that was shown on Netflix. This is one of the best looking 4K Dolby Vision shows I have ever seen on my OLED. Just beautifully done. Spectacular. I highly recommend this set if, that that's a big if, you have the correct equipment. If you do, I cannot recommend this set enough. Tremendous.Note: the only version of the show included in this set is the 4K version which is spread over three separate 4K discs (three episodes on each disc). There is one regular Blu Ray disc for the special features.

Studio Fortiche is brilliant at mixing 2D with 3D animation seamlessly. If you watched the season on Netflix, it's still a must-buy. The bonus features are worth the price, plus seeing it in 4K without any loss of (always experience that with Netflix) picture quality with rich black tones.If you are a fan of mature animation and like a painterly stylized look, this is a must-have for your collection. Beyond the visuals, it's a good tale.

Great show and I love all the bonus features. $45 is a bit much for nine episodes but it is Blu-ray I suppose
