What a neat little kit! This dual-grit diamond sharpener from The Bear Essentials is impressively compact, about the size of a credit card – perfect for throwing in a pack or carrying every day. The media could not be loaded. This kit was precisely what I was looking for. I do long, solo canoe camping trips. During which, I am usually fishing, and eating as much as I can catch. Eventually, my fillet knife starts to get a bit dull. I needed a good kit that I could pack with me, but not add bulk or weight. I knew I wanted credit card sized diamond plates, and leather for stropping. I don’t wear leather belts canoe camping, because they always get wet eventually. This is not an idiot proof sharpening set, it will require some understanding of manual sharpening technique, but it was perfect for keeping a keen edge on my fillet and pocket knife. I even use the 200 grit plate to keep my hatchet touched up.It was definitely more expensive than I thought it should be, and maybe that’s partially explained by the fancy metal tin, and burlap bag, and general non-utility, gift like, presentation. But I found no smaller or lighter option that I knew would keep me shaving hairs off my arm. The 4 grits, in a leather storage wallet, with a raw side for stropping, is perfect, and I expect to be using this for decades. I’ll probably take it traveling with me too, knives in AirB&Bs are always in need of some help.And it only weighs 2oz folks, that’s phenomenal!

Great little sharpening kit. Fits nicely anywhere. Came in a fancy gift wrap kind of tin. Definitely recommend, I use it often.

This outstanding kit includes a #200/600 grit stone and a #400/1000 grit stone which covers pretty much anything that needs a good edge. A unique feature of this kit is that the leather case for the stones doubles as a great leather strop (on the reverse side) thus ensuring a very fine edge. This pocket sharpener kit comes with the wallet containing two sharpeners with a total of four sharpening grits, the wallet itself can hold additional survival type cards, credit cards or even cash, this all comes packed in a small burlap bag, great for protecting the wallet if tossed in your backpack, or you can also store in the folding tin that is provided, on the wallet itself you can strop your knives, if you prefer you can apply polishing compound for a razor sharp edge. the sharpeners for me will be primarily used for knives, can also be used for fish hooks or arrow heads.
