Q: How long is self sharpening meant to last? As a year on for light beard trimming and blades are blunt ! ):

I am surprised at that. Although I do not use mine daily and my beard is not thick my shaver is still sharp well over a year from purchase. My previous Phillips shaver remained sharp for 4 Years. It was the battery going flat and not charging sufficiently that forced me to change it for the identical model.

Q: Can I do without comb attachments? I want to grow a short beard for the first time in my life. Is this trimmer all that's needed for keeping my beard?

Certainly! You could use the device without the comb. But if you're looking to grow a short beard, it might be advisable to use the comb regardless - as you're looking to keep some length. Cheers, Remco.

Q: Just bought this. Trying to charge but doesn’t seem to be happening. Green light on plug but not working after 12 hours plugged in. Faulty?

Yeah that does sound faulty. On mine, the green light on the plug doesn't change / go out to indicate that the shaver is charged, but after 12 hours mine will be able to last 5 or 6 whole shaves with ease.
