i would think it would stick to tiles although i stuck the mirror on a wall and didnt need to hold it in place,stuck almost straight away

No. The basin should be mechanically fixed.

Q: Is this suitable for a 6ft x 4ft safety backed mirror to be put up on an internal brick wall of a Garage?

No, I wouldn't risk it,also it May bleed through and you will see marks were the glue is, purchase the correct mirror cement, support it for 24 hrs then it should be solid.

Q: does removing the product damage plaster/ drywall?

The adhesive will bond with the plaster/drywall so there may be damage caused to the wall when removing it.
