Hi Kevery, that's a big question. It's like asking "how long is a piece of string?". Do you want a compact digital camera, a digital slr (DSLR) do you want the ability to change lenses or just have a fixed zoom, how much are you prepared to spend? And that's just for starters. If you're new to photography and your budget is limited then you may want to consider a compact model (one you can slip into your pocket, has a fixed zoom and will allow you some control of the settings or just let you point and shoot). If you're looking for a dslr and you're new to photography then an entry level unit would be better and you may want to consider a second hand one from a reputable dealer. It will allow you full control of exposure, shutter speed etc., give you presets for sport, landscape etc.. You will also have the ability to buy different lenses, wide angle, zoom, fixed focal length etc, and also a flash. Canon and Nikon are two standard names to consider, but there are many others. The ultimate consideration is the cost. A new dslr top of the range will set you back a minimum £2k and that's just for the body, lenses will cost you extra and set you back several hundered £ or indeed £K. Your best option is to head to your local photography store or contact a local photography group, explain what you're looking to do and they will advise. Either way it won't be cheap if you go down the route of a DSLR.
