Koi keeping is an enjoyable, relaxing hobby …………….. except when it’s not.Problems arise and it’s always with your better fish. A couple had the beginnings of a potential ulcer (holes in their body usually caused by poor water or parasite infections) but I carried out all of the tests and and checked a Mucus scrape from a few of the fish and found nothing that could cause my problems at a loss I decided to go for a 0.3 % salt level for the whole pond. I borrowed a good quality salt meter but decided to buy my own. This one has a number of reviews on YouTube which seemed positive so went with it. Easy to use once the supplied batteries are in. Simply clean with de ionised water before use available on Amazon or in the car section of most supermarkets (5ltr was £1.50 @ Tesco) then place it in the water to be tested. Comes pre calibrated but being a nerd tested against 3 pre known solution levels and all were accurate. Over half the price of the koi salt meters available in the U.K. and just in addition. 2 weeks at 0.3% has cleared up both my koi……….. now to get rid of the salt from the water. Buy with confidence

this is my second one of these after the first one succumbed to idiot dropping into tank syndrome... Doesn't replace a proper refractor for weekly checks but as a daily quick look it is fine. takes about 20 mins to clean, setup and calibrate to match my refractor Important part ther eis to clean the electrodes with hot soapy water and rinse with alcohol to remove any transport oils.I check the calibration monthly as it can go out of calibration especially if its not cleaned in RO water after use and taken care of.

Like others with negative reviews, followed set up instructions fully and this didn't work at all. Turned on, couldn't detect 1 tablespoon of salt in half a cup of water. Gave to the husband to figure out, he also had no luck with it. Took it to the local fish shop to test and they said it was non-functioning. Too late to return by then. Avoid.

Tried it against an expensive unit and gave same readings, so happy

Found this product extreamly difficult to operate and understand very disappointed
