Works good
I have used this iron a number of times and had good results. I like it better than my prior gun type. Just have to be careful it doesn't touch anything meltable.

The inter-changeable soldering "tip" tends to loosen on its own, over time.
This only provides a mild inconvenience, but I'm noticing that the screw-tight ending for connecting interchangeable soldering tips will get looser all by itself after a few uses - - If I had to guess, it's due to the metal parts contracting and expanding with the heat generated by the soldering iron. Otherwise, it's a great tool for beginners like myself and works like a charm. I love the integrated temperature dial and the automated cool-down/maintain temperature capability of the tool. Recommended Buy, 4/5 stars.

DO not Buy
This product quality is terrible. used the first time and it worked great. I thought wow this is going to be a good soldering iron... gets hot fast etc. Then pick it up 5 min later to continue my work and the darn thing will not heat up. if you buy this you better buy 10 of them to get 1 that works... So disappointed

Seems Decent
I do a lot of soldering and have more than one soldering iron. If you are doing board level work, this is not the product for you. I have several MetCal irons for that work. I had an Ungar adjustable Iron I used to for soldering wires together for doing automotive work and such. That iron stopped working and I was going to buy a replacement, but for the automotive soldering I don't need something that nice, so I bought this one to try out. I pretty much have been using it on the highest setting I don't really know how the adjustability works for lower heat applications. So far, I have been super happy with a couple of exceptions. First, the power button is in a terrible spot, and I tend to hit it a lot during use meaning sometimes it is off accidently when I need to use it (or using it). Not a huge issue as it heats back up fast, but it's very annoying. Next, the rubber grip is loose. It moves and slides down (interfering with the power button). I had to glue mine to keep it in place and off the power button. The cord is super stiff, so it tends to pull the iron off my holder a lot or it's tough to get into a tight spot because I am fighting the cord. Finally, the tip needs to be dressed a lot with a sponge and/or wire wool.. Not a huge deal for the price, but annoying. Overall, I am pretty happy with this one and buy it again. We'll see how it handles use of time.
