PS5 Essentials? Just Sony Essentials will do.
I just wanted to share some initial impressions on the first movie what it says about the set and opinions on ps5 as a player. Will update further as I watch other movies.Impressions on the First movie and what to expect in the set.I already had The final chapter on 4k, so I had an idea as to the quality Sony could bring and I am not disappointed. Everything is improved on for these movies Visuals/ Audio wise. I watched part of the first movie noticed there was immediate sharpness in faces, objects that are in focus, etc. There is light grain in most shots. Audio wise Atmos is very present from the scene where Alice steps out of mansion, you can hear wind and leaves blowing in overhead channels. Rear channels are engaged and used when needed. And not gonna lie, I'm kinda hyped to try out nemesis scene in Apocalypse which I already hear is demo material. Packaging consists of individual digipaks with some artwork front, back and inside. What its like on PS5For anyone wondering how playback is on ps5, since this set is branded as PS5 "4k movie essentials". It's very similar to xbox one/ one x, this is a basic 4k player. There are no HDR enhancements, like "HDR optimizer". In fact there's not even Dolby vision support, something ill touch on later. Just know this is similar to one x with just slight yellow tint to image, not as saturated as the one x which has a green/blue hue , but some may prefer this as it adds more "realistic" colors. Atmos is hidden under Bitstream in the options menu. The resume movie feature on most players especially compared to xbox one x is excellent. So many times on my one x I would start up a movie I watched before maybe only a couple hours ago, and it wouldn't remember where I was in the movie. On the ps5 it seems as long as its in the drive(and even after popping it out) it will remember. Overall It is a very good player if you dont have one already and one I would easily recommend to anyone looking to get into 4k movies.About the lack of Dolby vision on PS5, this is something I view as a major letdown from Sony and something I wanted to expand on considering they even sell equipment, including other standalone players that support the format as well as Atmos. So I don't understand the omission here, especially as Sony is one of the leaders in 4k discs movies in the market, with most of its titles coming out as reference quality or close to it. Venom,Spiderman Homecoming, Bloodshot(which are also "movie essential" branded as well) just to name a few were praised speficially for how well Dolby Vision looked. Ironically the first DV movie put out by Sony was actually a resident evil movie, vendetta in 2017. However, just based on the fact that streaming apps like Disney + don't have 4k support, Sony's emphasis on physical disc and selling a dedicated media remote tells me there will probably be updates to come, hopefully one of those being DV.PSA: Don't bother with PS5 essentials branded movies(this set being exeption). Theres nothing extra or different about them outside of retail packaging.

Wonderful collection at a beautiful price
I just purchased this set after craving it for a while. It may not be much faithful to the video games we grew up playing but I love the story and also I admire Mila Jovovich. For 6 movies including both 4k and blu ray discs, total 12 discs at 59.99$ is a great deal. You can enjoy hdr and more crisp video on 4k! I would get the steelbooks at first but after seeing shipping and custom fees getting at 200+ it was off my budget so I preferred this. But still this set, even at 92$ I paid including all mentioned fees was totally worth it. Only complain of mine was that 2 discs were loose but from a quick view they look fine, I'll check them soon to make sure they are totally fine, might be some factory issue but it's ok, everyone makes mistakes, it wasn't on purpose. Conclusion: if you like the movies totally buy this set, it will be a jewel amongst your collection!πβΊοΈ

Pretty fair price for what youβre getting, if youβre any kind of collector.
Iβm a sucker for these cheesy movies and when I saw this set, I had to get it. The steelbooks are cool and the case itself is pretty poppinβ fresh too. If you enjoy the franchise and like collectors items like this, Iβd recommend buying it.

Didn't come with a digital code slip
I already owned all of these films on day one. But recently the first trilogy started to stick and fail playback. I was so disappointed that this particular collection did not include digital codes! Was I supposed to receive a digital code slip?

21st Century B-Movies In A Good Collection
The Resident Evil movies are schlock. Pure B-Movies and nothing more. They have an incomprehensible plot, that makes major changes to the rules and the backstory by the sixth film, and the people behind the movies don't care. Having said that, if you like ridiculous B-Movies with action from start to finish and fluctuating budgets, you'll probably like this box-set.I'd only seen the first two movies in theaters, and vowed to never see another, but when I saw this collection on the Daily Deals page I couldn't resist. I'd been wanting some cheesy action films in my life for a while and this fit the bill. I won't cover much of the nonsensical story, but I will outline where the collection succeeds. The first film is the slowest and doesn't live up to it's potential. The second, Apocalypse, is my least favorite. It's the first time the series really goes off the rails and it has some terrible CG.The third, Extinction, is one of the better films in the series. It has better cinematography, more interesting zombies, and decent set-pieces.The fourth, Afterlife, is not great. It's boring through the first half, and the ending is just insanely silly in it's action. I don't know what they were thinking. The fifth, Retribution, builds fairly well. The first act is meaningless and feels like it goes on forever. The sixth, The Final Chapter, has the best budget and the best set-pieces but irritated me the most. The series as a whole has a continued story, with each film picking up almost exactly where the previous film ends. They wrote themselves out of a lot of them, sometimes ruining the best ideas in the endings, but Final Chapter really ruins it. Retribution ends with the promise of a lot of cool action and changes, and Final Chapter skips ahead by days (weeks?) and squanders the potential again. They also made major changes to the backstory of Alice and Umbrella, and while I'd argue they were good changes as a whole, for a series that stuck so closely to it's inane story it's odd for them to make such a massive change.Bonus features are fine, nothing mind blowing but they're there. The box itself is perfectly fine (another reviewer uploaded a great selection of pictures for collectors) and mine came with a slipcover. No 3-D editions, but this is the best way to purchase the entire set in my opinion.TL:DR Terrible movies that end up being goofy fun in a great collection. If you like these movies at all and want them, this is the way to go.
