Brilliant starter package
I originally picked up just Your Tarot Your Way, but it quickly became clear that having the tarot deck with it would be helpful. It's a perfectly fine beginner deck, similar enough to the traditional RWS that a learner will easily be able to transition to different styles. Cardstock is a bit on the flimsy side, it'll almost certainly need replaced eventually, but I'd imagine most beginners will want a more interesting deck as they progress anyway. I know I do. The uninspiring art style is the only reason I decided to return the boxed set.Moore's Your Tarot Your Way is the real star of this set. Moore gives readers everything they need to jump into basic readings without being so informative that it becomes overwhelming. I especially like the 'play' activities at the end of each chapter, as well as her suggestion to do spreads for fictional characters before reading a book or watching a movie. It's a fun, low stress way to build practice into regular recreational activities.I do wish the book could more easily be used without the deck at first. The title suggests it should be, but the explanations are so tied to the artwork that, as a practical matter, a beginner with a different deck--even another RWS clone--is likely to get tripped up by details. Better to just start with the set, then move on to a more interesting deck after the basics are down. Alternately, get this to start then, if the interest is still there in a month or two, pick up a more fun RWS-based deck along with Llewellyn's Tarot for Beginners (also by Moore), which shows three different interpretations of the same card so you can begin to understand how different artists depict the same general meaning in different ways.

absolutely my favorite!
I have many, many books on tarot and this is my favorite. Barbara covers all the important concepts very simply and from all angles. There were a few new concepts that made things so much more simple for me to understand that I haven't seen before. She writes from the perspective of what is helpful to get you understanding and going in reading tarot on your own.The cards have become my new favorite deck, even though at first they seem a little thin but it does tend to make them easier to shuffle (they're not at all sticky) and the artwork is beautiful. some reviews have stated that they may not last long but honestly if I had to replace them soon it would be well worth it. And the book and the cards come in a really nice box if you want to use that :)

Good basic tarot book
Easy read and gives basic meanings for the cards. Good when learning and you can branch off from there.

5 Stars with Caveats
Moore's book is nicely written in an engaging, amenable, style. Good illustrations. It's content is well-done and thoughtful. A good book for any Tarot library The book deserves 5 stars, most certainly. The cards I find to be a bit of an issue, straight out of the box.Indeed, the box itself is an issue. Not very attractive or desirable at all, inside or out. Plain. Cheap. IMO, it serves simply as packaging to deliver book and cards undamaged, which it did do. Not something worthy of shelf space itself, though. The cards are wrapped in some typical cellophane-type wrapper inside the box, apparently intended to be stored within the box when not in use, as they have no tuck flap box of their own.Care should be exercised, as the cards stick to each other once taken out of the cellophane. Due to the thinness of the cardstock, this separating of the cards is fraught with peril, as a fingernail will easily ding the edges of the flimsy cardstock. Not good. Must do better, Llewellyn, yes?The cards are lushly colored, very richly so. Some, like the ten of Pentacles, approach the luminosity of certain medieval miniatures . Some are quite distinctly striking in their composition. Some fail completely, IMO. The Emperor and all four Kings look as if they are in the beginning moments of uncontrollable rage. Why? An angry King of Cups, are you kidding me? The King of Pentacles is clothed in a sort of rust red, easily mistaken for the King of Wands. Why? Why not a more trad. green?XVIII, The Moon, comes close to being successful, but IMO is ruined by the face of a man in the moon who looks too-distinctly like Jean Luc Picard of NEXT GENERATION. Unnecessary. It detracts from the somber beauty which the card otherwise possesses.Bare knees of various characters are ill-defined by slashes intended to depict structure, but which fail in nearly every case. I am still trying to convince myself that the slashes on The Star's knees are to indicate structure, and are not tribal tattoos or unfortunate mud smears. Amateurish. Why, when the artist is obviously otherwise quite capable of doing things right? The Wheel goes completely off the rails on card X. One has to struggle long and hard to try to imagine that over-done image as being The Wheel card of Tarot. The cardstock is way too flimsy, IMO. I crimped a card simply trying to put a rubber band around the deck. I do not imagine the deck will last long in daily use. Would be fine for a "Card-a-Day" sort of use, though. It sounds I hate the cards. I don't. The artist hits a majority of the illustration-balls out of the park in stunning fashion. But, the whiffs are there, and they are very noticeable.Anyways, the book deserves a 5, the cardstock a 3, the box a 2 , and the majority of the illustrations of the cards at least a 4. A collector should get this set. A beginner should get this set.

Easy Peasy
If you are new to reading tarot this is probably the best deck you can get. Next to the original Rider Waite deck that everybody should have. But, this deck is better illustrated. And I really like the artwork. It has a little better description and the book is great. This will really help you if you're starting out and you need help with descriptions and it'll really help you further your study doing tarot. I highly recommend it.

Totally Terrific Tarot.
In my opinion this is the best Rider-Waite style Tarot deck available. The colors are SO much better than the original, it's borderless, great size for shuffling and the art work is much improved over the original, traditional drawings. I know staunch traditionalists may disagree but I love this deck. The accompanying book is very nice as well. Can't lose with this deck.
