Q: Do the ketchup and mustard strings go back into the bottle easily?

Easy enough for an adult not for a two year old. I don't think the strings have been back in the bottle since my son opened his basket. He loves it though and I don't mind it.

Q: Does the mustard and ketchup have the little string that comes out like in other sets?

Mine didn't come with strings despite the description (and photo) on the box.
