Q: Has anyone opened this to confirm it contains a Tripath amp?

It doesn’t, not even close. If you’re looking for a 20w RMS Tripath amp, keep looking. I’ll post a review with pictures, and while I realize that this is s late answer, hopefully it’ll help the next guy.

Q: Does it come with power supply?

Yes. I came with a 13.5V 3A power adapter.

Q: If i hook this up from my tv to some wall speakers, will the tv control manage the volume? can i just leave the amp on--hidden away?

It doesn't work for me, and I don't think it would for many TVs. It depends on whether your TV is supplying a fixed or variable signal.
