Vast improvement over the bricks supplied with our fireplace insert!
Really impressed with this product, these clay firebricks have definitely improved the overall performance of our wood stove (fireplace) insert.Going on our third season with this wood stove, the porous concrete-like firebricks that were originally supplied with the unit were already in need of replacement, with one brick broken, another deeply cracked. After ordering one box and determining the Rutland bricks appeared to be much better quality, opted to replace ALL 13 firebricks. Involved some work in cutting down to size, as the existing ones were four different dimensions, (used a Dewalt angle grinder with DEWALT DW4725 masonry blade).... dusty and loud task, but worth the effort. After just a couple successive fires, we've noticed these bricks insulate much better than the old ones, and balance the fire's heat output as well, requiring less tending during a burn. The outer stove body does not get quite as hot, which should lengthen its lifespan; much larger amount of hot embers in the morning means easier restarting, less kindling and time needed to get a hot blaze going again. The fan on the stove also turns on a bit later, (I modified the manual knob with a thermo-activated one when we installed the stove) which also means the stove body doesn't heat up so quickly; more even heat distribution and a hotter blaze translates into squeezing more therms out of each stick of wood and less charred waste.HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone needing it for relining a wood stove or fireplace.

Good bricks shipping got beat but they survived
They’re are what they say they are as far as the product. The tolerances on thickness has some variances but since they are designed to be a high tolerance product I’m sure they are normal. They heat up nicely and provide even distribution of that heat. Using them for pizza oven/stones and work well. My packages were literally beat to heck and the manufacturer boxes were merely thrown on Amazon box’s with like one piece of padding to fill the remaining box. None the less the bricks surprisingly made it unbroken. Hoping for many years of service.

Turns an Old Grill into a Pizza Oven
We like to make pizza at least once a week, but it’s hard to run a kitchen oven in Arizona when temps are often high 90s through 100s about 6 months of the year. We had an old grill that still worked, just too small for the way we cook outdoors, but the perfect size for turning into a pizza oven. We bought two packages of bricks to cover the grill surface, cutting to size as needed, and we can now make pizza outside any time of year without heating up the kitchen. The bricks seem pretty substantial and were easy to cut with a tile saw, and nothing has broken or cracked under high heat either. We are happy with the performance.

1.25 inch split firebrick with 2700F service rating
I am using these bricks to reline my wood-gasifying heater. They satisfy the need for 2700F operation to meet EPA emission guidelines. Good quality bricks, delivered to your doorstep at a good price. I expect they will work well in service for more than 8 years.A package of 6 bricks weighs 24 lbs. Bricks ship in a neat, sturdy corrugated cardboard box with corrugated cardboard separators between each brick. The packages are dense, and I think they travel well. If dropped though, it is possible for bricks to be damaged in shipment which happened to my order. I found amazon's processes and the seller to be very helpful in addressing my problems to my complete satisfaction. Allow time in your project plan to work through amazon and the seller to address brick damage if edge integrity is critical.I can recommend this product.

Great product -- solved the problem
Wow, what a difference replacing some of the firebricks in our probably 20+ year old Napolean wood stove these made. perfect fit. I thought there was only one broken. I found a second broken and two more cracked and ready to drop. So don't fret about having to buy a pkg of six. You will use them! NOTE: Your stove will heat more quickly, get hotter, and hold the heat longer ... but if you, like I, had more holes in the firebrick than you knew (on the roof of the chamber), when you replace them with the new bricks, the firebox will not draft as well at first. It makes sense if you think about it. So get a good fire going on top and start the draft, let it vent well for the first 5-10 minutes, or you will be smoking up your house a bit. It's not a problem, if you are aware. UPDATE: Two years later, just used the 6th and final brick. None of the ones I installed two years ago have broken. Ordering another box now. I believe this Napolean stover (fireplace insert with glass door) is 20-30 years old, so not surprised the old ones are giving out.
