Q: I have a 2hp wood lathe will this work in slowing it down for sanding

No. It won't handle the amperage draw that a two hp motor uses. It wouldn't last a minute

Q: I got this pedal for my Dremel 4000, set to max speed but the pedal is just on or off, I do not get variable speed by foot pressure. What is wrong?

I also had no joy with this pedal and a Dremel 4000. For me it is off or on so I will try one more and if I get a good experience I will post it.
