Smart, modern lamp
(Non sensor version)I was replacing an existing light fitting that had seen better days. I have other Osram lights that were easier to fit than this unit, but it wasn't too bad. There is a separate lightweight bracket to attach to the wall, then you attach the man arm using a couple of fiddly Allen screws. Top glass just screws on. Nice looking light, clean lines and a good/warm light colour. Very pleased - but should be Permenantly priced around £45 - the list price is too high.

Picture only instructions make it hard to troubleshoot
So we have fitted this lamp outside our front door and it was a little fiddly to get set up, but the most frustrating part is that the instructions are only pictorial and aren't all that straightforward. We have managed to get the light set up and the sensor works with movement, but it doesn't seem to work only from dusk to dawn - it works all day, which is really frustrating and the instructions don't have any words, so I can't check the troubleshooting. If I could get that glitch sorted, I would definitely say that this is a 4 or 5 star product, but frankly I don't need the lamp to keep switching on during the day - so it's just okayEdit: My husband has tried to adjust it and has now managed to set it so that it only triggers between dawn and dusk, but he isn't sure how he has managed it - so I have upped the rating from the original 3 star review to 4 - but the lack of comprehensive instructions means that it can't be 5 star.

Should have been so much better at the price
Sensor VersionI would not buy this unit for three reasons; firstly the 'bulb' is not replaceable, and in my mind this is completely unacceptable, however long it might last. Secondly the price is far too high, especially given the lack of bulb replacement. Thirdly, the attachment system is far too flimsy, with an unnecessarily heavy 'bowl' that puts a great deal of strain on the wall fixings. Holes are provided for only two screws, where I think three would have given a more secure attachment.Wall plugs and screws were included in the box but I used ones which were twice as long, given the amount of weight that was to be put on them. At the price of this lamp unit, Osram could have provided a simple template for drilling the holes, but they didn't. Instead I used a blank area on the instruction leaflet and drew my own to make sure the holes were drilled in the correct place. It is fiddly to fit the tiny screws which hold the main unit to the base plate, using the tiny Allen key provided.Another down-side of not being able to replace the 'bulb' is that I really don't think it's very bright. It is just about bright enough to show where the path is and find where to put your key in the door, but I thought the light output was pretty feeble – and of course you can't change it to put a larger LED bulb in there!I agree with other reviewers that the manufacturing quality is good, and it is from a reputable manufacturer, but it doesn't make up for the poor design factors.I set the movement and light sensitivity controls to halfway and was happy with the result.

Not so great
This light was acquired to provide an elegant light source to the front of our home, and have the added advantage of a sensor to turn the light on when an approach to the property is made after dark. This seems to work quite well, but the light is not overly bright. The weight of the nit is a little top heavy but the bracket manages to hold it to the wall without mishap - so far! This was a review item but given the cost if buying the unit I would suggest that it is a little overpriced. If I had paid I would expect superior performance to the offerings through some of the larger DIY outlets and from experience of both types of light, this is not the case.Shame really, as it is a good name in terms of light fitting manufacturers.
