Another winner from Joe Wicks
I have all three of Joe’s Lean in 15 books and have cooked many of the great recipes dozens of times over. Recently, I bought his latest book: ‘Joe’s 30-minute meals’ which came out earlier this month. There are 100 quick and healthy recipes, a delectable feast for anyone embarking – or continuing – on their weight loss and exercise plan. Realising that some recipes do take longer than 15 minutes to cook, he decided to write a comprehensive book where recipes take a bit more time. After a friendly welcome by Joe, he sets out how the book will work for you, by organising the book by main ingredients: All-Day Breakfast, Chicken, Beef and Pork and so on. After the introduction, he helpfully lists the ingredients you’ll need for your store-cupboard so that you can just choose any recipe and not have to rush out to buy the main ingredients for it. He also lists extras that he loves which just add that little bit more to a recipe. Then you start with All-Day Breakfasts and written in Joe’s usual style of banter, you’re in for a real feast – not only for the eyes with the amazing colour photographs of what your dish should look like – but also with what you’ve prepared. There are some recipes which have vegetarian alternatives, but it is not a vegetarian cook book – you’ll have to wait for December for his vegetarian recipe book to come out. All the meals look fabulous; and if you’re familiar with Joe’s other books, you’ll know that you’re in for a treat when the Master of the Midget Trees puts a meal together. Unlike the Lean in 15 books, there are no work-outs but each recipe is labelled ‘reduced-carb’ or ‘carb-refuel’ so you’ll know which days to eat them on, depending if you’re doing a work out or not. This is a feast for the eyes as well as the belly. It’s a really great book.

Pretty good
As a stand alone book, if you have no other similar books, then this is pretty good with some reasonable ideas. If you are a vegetarian or a vegan then you should look elsewhere as most recipes will be unsuitable (although there are a few vegetarian substitutes noted). There are probably a few too many chicken recipes for my liking and a few too many including noodles. For a 'healthy' recipe book quite a lot of processed meats, particularly chorizo, appear. Overall though, there are some recipes that you won't see elsewhere that are definitely worth trying or adapting to suit yourself. This book is well-presented and will sell many copies I am sure due to the popularity of the author. I certainly couldn't criticise too much about it as I can appreciate how difficult it must be to produce a book like this. I would like to have seen a vegetarian chapter as not everyone wants to eat meat or fish with every meal. The sweet treats chapter could probably have been a little more extensive as well, perhaps at the expense of some of the chicken recipes. Quite a good book overall though that I wouldn't dissuade anyone from buying. You can look inside the book and see some of these details, but for completeness the contents page looks like this: Introduction 4 Stocking up 14 All-day Breakfast 16 Chicken 36 Fish & Seafood 100 Pork 162 Beef & Lamb 180 Sweet Treats 214 Index & Thank yous 228 The full list of recipes: Smashed Peas Ham & Egg Muffins Cheese, Spinach & Ham Everyday Omelette Chocolate Malt Overnight Oats Goat's Cheese & Chorizo Morning Muffins Masala Eggs Bread with Quick Tomato Relish Baked Eggs in Herby Mushrooms Carrot Fritters with Eggs & Halloumi Full English Bake-up Tahini & Yoghurt Eggs with Chorizo Mexican Tortilla with Chicken & Feta Teriyaki Ginger Chicken with Aubergine & Rice Grilled Lemon Chicken with Cauliflower Rice Chicken Fried Rice with Mango & Basil Chicken & Aubergine 'Pizza' Joe's Bangin' Chicken Balti Paprika & Lentil Stew with Honey-Glazed Chicken Singapore Chicken Udon Noodles Chicken Tostadas Chicken & Mushroom Risotto Chicken & Saffron Ragu Harissa & Red Pepper Roast Chicken Chicken & Miso Noodle Soup Paprika Chicken with Apple & Dill Slaw Chicken & Orzo Rat-a-Tat Bake West Coast Quinoa Chicken Bowl Griddled Caesar Niçoise Fennel & Radish Chicken Noodles Chicken & Squid Orzo Paella Chicken & Brussels with Pasta Shells Bang Bang Chicken Stir-Fry Watermelon & Chicken with Glass Noodles Chicken, Kale & Brussels Lime & Chorizo Chicken Legs Dukkah-Spiced Chicken with Giant Couscous & Pomegranate Dressing Bacon-Wrapped, Cheese-Stuffed Chicken Breasts Chipotle Chicken Orange & Watercress Salad Roast Chicken with Butternut, Figs & Goat's Cheese Edamame, Pink Ginger & Smoked Salmon Salad, Tuna & Egg Bruschetta Shallot & Fennel with Grilled Sea Bass Sambal Sea Bass with Baked Coconut Rice Tandoori Cod Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries Prawn & Chorizo Skewers with Melon & Basil Crab-o-Cado Caprese Aubergine Korma with Spiced Monkfish Roast Salmon with Chorizo & Almonds Smoked Haddock Baked Orzo Thai Cod in a Bag Salmon Ceviche Grilled Mackerel with Beetroot & Pomegranate Slaw Soba Noodles with Tuna & Cucumber Tuna & Avo Poke Bowl Crunchy Polenta Cod with White Bean Stew Risotto Verde with Tuna Steak Aubergine Caponata with Grilled Mackerel Griddled Tuna with Sweetcorn & Lettuce Crispy Sole Goujons with Beetroot & Apple Crab Fu Yung Tuna Steak with Fried Mushroom Hash Salmon Filo Tart Papaya & Cashews Chilli Sea Bass Crab & Sweetcorn Fritters with Sriracha Mayo Prawn & Chicken Chow Mein Cod with Romesco Sauce & New Potatoes Miso Aubergine with Sea Bream Spiced-Roasted Salmon with Paneer & Cauliflower Griddled Peach & Asparagus with Burrata Manchego Saltimbocca with Pear & Rocket Salad Grilled Pork Chops with Apple & Dill Coleslaw Summer Salad with Courgette & Ham Pork & Kidney Bean Burritos Chickpea & Veg Stew with Port Tenderloin Harissa Pork Chops with Fennel & Parsley Salad Sausage & Mushroom Pie Roast Chicory & Pecans with Salami Kofta-Stuffed Romano Peppers Spiced Lamb Chops with Cucumber Salad Paprika Lamb Kebabs with Whipped Herb Ricotta Avocado & Goat's Cheese with Grilled Lamb Chops Quick Spiced Beef Grilled Sirloin Wraps with Wasabi Dressing Swedish-Style Meatballs Red Pepper Gnocchi with Sirloin Steak Sumac Lamb Chops with Roast Lettuce Fennel & Lemon Lamb Chops with Buttery Peas Sirloin Steaks with Garlicky Creamy Spinach Sirloin Steaks with Chimichurri Beef & Lemongrass Noodle Soup Beef-Stuffed Aubergine with Halloumi & Green Olives Olive, Artichoke, Quinoa & Steak Salad Steak with Kale, Tahini & Sesame Greens One-Pan Steak with Devilled Mushrooms Chocolate Mousse Baked Maple Apples Blackcurrant Poached Pears Coconut Macaroons Mango & Mint Fools Mini Strawb Pavlovas Watermelon Jelly

Both simple and complex recipies.
Made a number of recipies from the book and have loads of post-it notes hanging out the top for future ones to try and re-try. There are many great recipes but the Monkfish Korma is amazing! Would definitely recommend and have infact bought for another family member since buying for myself. A useful feature is that it also suggests which are good for freezing and batch cooking etc.

Clean eating recipe book
Ordered this book as I want to get back in to shape and it would seem no fitness instructor wants to help with a meal plan unless they train you, I have to say I am really impressed with the book the information it gives and the simple recipes are fun to make but really tasty, I highly recommend it their are some elements of the recipes I don’t like like tomato but once it’s cooked you hardly know they are their, a big thanks to the author

It's ok.
I bought this book hoping for some new interesting recipes that would be quick, easy and healthy. The recipes are ok, there are alot of basics missing from recipes and a serious lack of garlic. There isn't really anything particularily new or interesting in the book. The recipes haven't been proof read properly in one dish (sausage and mushroom pie) it tells you to remove the sausages from the pan, the recipe then continues to the end without ever putting the sausages back in the pie. Obviously I put them back in but it just shows how lazily put together the book is. Generally the food tastes nice and many recipes take much longer than 30minutes. My advice - bbc good food website has better recipes for free.
