Awesome Product with a Great Price!
This is awesome! I've been tinkering with electronics on-and-off for over a decade. Only recently have I really gotten into hobbyist builds. In the past, I'd just used cheaper irons. I've tried both the "typical" Weller models, a soldering gun and a battery powered one. The Weller one was "okay" but took forever to heat.I unpacked it, plugged it in and turned it on. It's preset to a 750F default temperature. From the moment you hit the switch, it takes 41s to hit 750F. Never having used higher-quality irons like this, that's incredibly impressive... not to mention having a digital display that tells me it's hot and ready is pretty sweet too. It's nice that it cools relatively quickly too, after turning it off. In the time it took me to write those last couple sentences, I turned it off. I turned it back on and it was at 430F. Not staying hot forever is a nice touch when you've got a toddler running around. The default tip is pretty nice. I've used it a couple times to solder some simple connections and desolder some components from an old VCR with old, corroded and dirty connections. That little hole above the space for the sponge fits the included cleaning wire pretty well. A quick few seconds in there, followed by wiping it on the sponge and the tip was bright and shiny again. My old Weller one blackened that first day and has been garbage since. I haven't tried the other tips it came with yet but they're all branded Hakko so I can only assume they're just as great. The sponge well is set in a bit to hold water beneath the sponge. This is actually pretty handy. Now the sponge doesn't dry out after a few hours of usage like cheap sponges in flat containers. The iron itself is pretty light and well-balanced so it's not awkward to hold. The power cable from the iron the base is VERY light which surprised me considering how thick it is. Combine that with the couple feet of length and the cable rests on the table and the little bit you're supporting from the iron doesn't weigh the top of the handle down. The iron's holder is a good weight, sits flat and even and has not-really-sticky-but-not-teflon-either rubber feet and doesn't tip or move when putting the iron in or taking it out.The "base station" is very heavy. It has a heavy duty power cable but having it on the edge of the table with the power cord hanging off doesn't "pull" it off the edge of the table owing to its weight and the rubber feet (a bit more "sticky" than those on the holder stand). It feels very solid. I've had it on for a few hours and it doesn't get excessively hot and hasn't given me any problems so far.The unit came with all the extras in the photo: extra tips, two cleaning wires and the sponge. I'll be sure to update if I have any problems but, considering the quality I've seen so far, I don't anticipate any. There are quite a bit of compensated reviews on here and since I'm really, really pleased with this, I feel the need to state explicitly that this was not a compensated review of any kind. I just spent a lot of time researching soldering stations and settled on this one after reading all the great reviews elsewhere on the web.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED!
So recently i had a need to upgrade my soldering iron due to a need for an adjustable temp iron that was a lot more precise than my standard radio shack soldering iron. ive been using craftsman and radio shack irons for years now for all of my guitar and amp repairs but lately ive begun building microphone preamps and the circuit boards are more sensitve to excess heat and the capacitors are tiny so i didnt want to use the typicl large tipped cheaper iron i was accustomed to. i always was tired of using the little metal stand and having the regular soldering iron fall over and touch other objects when at rest. i also was a bit tired of the 15 minute warm up that cheaper irons have. i read some reviews on google and here on amazon and opted o buy this iron that came with the multiple tips for the 119.00. when i opened the packed i was a bit surprised that it came with so many of their optional tips. Three of these tips were priced between 8-11.00 a piece and i almost purchased them separatley when i added the same soldering station at 109.00 that included the cutters. i really wanted the little bent fine tip and the tiny bevel tip and both were already in the box! if you consider this whole kit was 120.00 and the extra tips alone are like 50.00 or more dollars, this is an incredible deal. I didnt need the cutters anyway that the other package deal had. the soldering station itself is nice and rugged and extremely well made it seems. It took less than 1 minute to set it up and after turning it on, it hit the preset 750 degrees in less than 20 seconds or so! WOW!..thats a big difference over the extensive warming up period of my cheaper iron. The soldering iron itself fits nicl into the holder and within seconds I had the cleaning brush and sponge in place and was testing it out. I was even surprised o find hat the little sponge hat sits in the bottom of the station for cleaning the tip was pre moistened! I made a few quick solders and immediately regretted not purchasing this way sooner. Especially considering I have spent nearly 100.00 already on multiple cheaper irons and supplies. You can set temparature presets that can be recalled if needed but honestly i really didnt care much about those features. i was simply looking for a stabile temperature reading during the soldering, a super fast warm up and cool down and a good amoun of optional tips. It was better than expected in all of these catagories. I have not spent a lo of time working with the station yet but definitely long enough to know that it it exactly what I was hoping for. Do not think twice about the 120.00 dollars for this station. You will not regret it!

I wish I bought this sooner
This is the exact model my university uses in its maker lab, and after buying one, I understand why. This heats up VERY quickly, and it is very easy to use. This is the best soldering iron I have ever owned.

HAKKO GOOD
High heat, precise temperature control, sturdy design. It's Hakko. It's good.Wish it just had regular up and down arrows for temperature controls though. Having one button to hold and cycle through digits and one to increment that selected digit is an absurdly petty cost-cutting measure for a device that costs this much. How much would it have cost to add left, right, up, down controls?

Works Well
I don't have a way to measure the tip temperature so I don't know about its accuracy. It does get up to temp very quickly and it seems to work well though. Programming not intuitive and it is funny looking, not sure why they designed it to look like it does.

Logged on just to rate this Iron..A+++++++
This is hands down the very best Soldering Iron set up I have ever owned and I have owned quite a few. I highly recommend it. It comes with a number of extra iron tips all the way from tiny to very large. They send duplicate replacement tips in the box when they ship it. It gets hot immediately , it cools to another temperature quickly. It heats up when you turn it on right away, there is nearly no wait time. The temp control works great. It is super easy to use, super easy to change temps. It fits nicely in the hand. It is made of very sturdy materials. Changing tips is super easy and simple. Let me say this, sometimes I need an Iron to get really really hot (working on tube equipment) then I need it cool and even temperature..It does this without any problem whatsoever. Take it from me spend the extra few $ and win with this station. Yes, I own it. No I am not affiliated in any way.
