Superb for Novice & Expert
I make a wide variety of jams and preserves, both for domestic consumption and to sell at an annual charity garden party. Out of the many books I have on the subject this is by far the best The recipes are clear & concise, backed up with beautiful photographs. The variety of recipes to choose from is vast & they have obviously been tried out beforehand.I would recommend this book for the novice preserve maker, indeed I bought it for my son & his partner after their first foray into fruit & veg growing landed them a bumper harvest! The instructions, information on different techniques & equipment needed are very thorough & easy to follow.Jams & preserves now form the core of my present giving. Bottled attractively & tied with pretty labels made from a variety of Wild Coast Trading's beautiful papers: Paper Moon- Quality Scrapbooking Paper x 8 sheets 7cm x 10.8cm - Herbs & Roses they never cease to impress!

Brilliant preserving book
I'm new to preserving and found a lot of the information available on the web to be patchy and contradictory. This book has been an absolute godsend. The information is clear and precise and it gives you plenty of instructions and options on how to sterilise jars (the bit I was most nervous about).I've already made some of the recipes and can completely recommend them - the Fig and Vanilla Jam is divine and the Tomato and Courgette Chutney was incredible, even before it had matured!!I really liked that the book also goes beyond the usual jams and chutney fare - not only are there are ways to preserve vegetables and fruit (ever heard of a fruit butter?), the book also explores home brewing and meat-smoking. Granted, there's only a few pages dedicated to these but it's enough to give you a taste for all the possibilities out there.Highly recommended - there's plenty here for beginners and experts alike.

Great book
I already had a copy of this, lent it to an acquaintance, and never got it back. It's out of print, so was really glad to see this available via Amazon. It arrived and lo and behold! It had a dust cover - my original copy did not.Very pleased, excellent resource to back up your own experiments in preserving fruits, veg, etc.

Brilliant book
I bought this for a friend as I have had mine for many years, it’s my preserving bible, from jam, jelly, fruit butter, onion marmalade etc…

The Preserving Book
Saw and looked through this book at my daughter-in-law's home, and decided it was one I needed. I am very pleased with the purchase. Not just jams, jellies, pickles but lots of advice on drying food, freezing, preserving, making your own sauces, salting, curing, smoking and a whole lot more. Clear print, easy to read, with lots of coloured pictures.

Good ideas
I used this to make freezer strawberry jam, raspberry and blueberry, and strawberry and peach. I have always struggled with strawberry jam, it takes for ever to set, but with the freezer recipes in this book I had some made in 15 minutes!!!! Worth buying for these recipes alone. Will start on the pickles and chutneys when the produce is ready on the allotment. Very pleased with my purchase.
