Lumos Skills Mastery tedBook - 8th Grade English Language Arts: Standards-based ELA practice workbook (Skills Mastery by Lumos Learning) Paperback – June 8, 2018

I ran across the Lumos Series on Amazon when my daughter was homeschooling. I purchased the 8th grade math and ELA books as a way to supplement my daughter’s learning with other curricula that she was using. We eventually switched over to only using Lumos in the last few months of 8th grade. These are the things that I loved about Lumos: the workbooks provided a clear outline of the State requirements for each grade level; the ability to access solutions to the workbook questions allowed my daughter to correct her own work, which improved her study habits; both my daughter and I liked the material; I feel that the material was complete. My daughter just started high school and as a 9th grader, she is doing fantastic in her classes at school. I feel confident that the Lumos workbooks (and online materials) helped my daughter prepare for the transition from homeschool back to traditional school. We especially loved the Lumos math curriculum. I am happy to say that in her first semester back at school, she’s Holding a 90% average in algebra 1. I am certain that the work she did with the Lumos curriculum helped prepare her. We also liked the Lumos ELA material. The curriculum helped my daughter hone her critical thinking skills and reading comprehension. I highly recommend Lumos. I can also say that I appreciate how affordable the workbooks are and we took advantage of the accompanying online content.

This is a wonderful English Language Arts Skills Mastery book! We used it for homeschooling and my 8th grade daughter really enjoyed using it for learning and practice. The online resources are also very helpful, and are a great bonus to an already well-done product.

I bought this book for my advanced 6th grader. I think it is good as an extra resource for practice beside the regular school work. It is complex and good for your GT student. I would recommend order 1 grade higher if you really want to challenge your kid. The online resource with this book, I did not find it very helpful though.Or maybe we did not use it.

This is a pretty decent textbook for an 8th greater it helps prepare the student for the 9th grade.

My granddaughter tells me this book is helping her to improve her grade in math.

LOVE TED BOOKS

This book has both inaccuracies (mislabeling parts of speech, inaccurate explanations) and errors of spelling and punctuation in its text. The reading comprehension questions are disappointing as well.

In this age of social media with its shortcuts in communication and language, students must find the classroom English Language Art courses a challenge. Allowing remedial practice to improve the child’s achievement levels.The hundreds of resources available to each portal, together with instant feedback and personalized score reports after completion of each ELA practice session, will make learning an enjoyable experience. Leading to successful outcomes.
