Substantial reduction in sound transferring.
Great product. I ended up buying an additional 50ft roll to complete my project but was very impressed with the results. With the 1lb version I was able to use long staples to attach it to the studs I’m not sure that would work with the 2lb version. In a 4x8 sheet you’ll need help lifting it to get it mounted but it’s very manageable. As far as the people saying this ripped easily, I can only imagine they were trying to do too much by themselves as I didn’t have any issues. Photos are of the midway process before and during sheet rocking.

Great MLV will purchase again
MLV is super expensive but in the pursuit of sound deadening your vehicle it is a must. Works great keeping road noise out and audio noise in. Couple it with Butyl or Bitumen CLD tiles and a decoupling layer of Closed Cell Foam and you've got yourself a quiet ride.MLV is super heavy and very dense. It does tear fairly easily so be careful when handling it.

I'm dubious...
After hearing so much about mass loaded vinyl, and in an effort to up my sound absorption defenses, I put my chips down and purchased this product.I expected this material to be alot thicker. It is heavy, but so is vinyl in general. Have you ever carried a box of contractor bags or contractor vinyl sheet rolls? They are HEAVY. So I expected this to be heavy, which it is... I just expected it to be thicker in terms of "mass loading". I'm not really seeing the loaded material here.I have an adjoining apartment wall with a neighbor who sometimes thinks his apartment is a dance club. So to test this product I placed it in a small closet in which I can particularly hear the music coming from. I wrapped it around the whole wall and sat on the other side to mimic how I would have hung it. It did not block the sound at all, and minimally at best.I know that mass loaded vinyl has other components to it creating a mass loaded barrier of blended materials, but I don't think this particular product is worth the price. On another wall I have hung egg crates mattress toppers (with the points facing towards the noise) with double layered 6 ml. vinyl sheeting over them (hidden behind sound absorbing curtains) and it has created a better sound barrier than I think this product would.I'm not dogging it, I just think you would need multiple layers of some kind of sound barrier absorption materials to create a mass loaded effect rather then relying solely on this particular product (ie; like laying extra drywall over it + egg-crate foam on in the drywall, etc). I ultimately returned it because I feel my dollars could be invested in other sound absorption options. One little tip I recommend is using pure silicone caulk on drywall seams for sound absorption. Sound travels across floors and then comes through uninsulated openings such as where floors and drywall sheets meet, both on the ceilings and on the floors (behind baseboards). Silicone caulk can also be used in place of green glue to isolate sound and vibration between two layers of construction materials such as layered drywall (and mass loaded vinyl if you choose to use it). Just remember that you can't paint over silicone caulk so use it accordingly. But you can do your research, pure silicone caulk is well known for its sound absorbing properties.Good luck!

Need quality MLV?
I was doing a dedicated home theater build, needed a lot of MLV ( i got 5 of the big rolls). I got this stuff and it was the way to go. The product does not delaminate like some others, is as heavy as you would expect, is fairly pliable at normal temps, is easy to apply, and lays flat. While it can be used for walls, I used it for the floor and riser in the theater. While it looks like it was processed, handled, and delivered by space monkeys on crack, there was probably only about 3% total loss due to inept handling. Keep that in mind, logistics don't like this stuff due top weight, and they make that clear. Other than that, it is exactly what you think it is, works well, and is easy to use. I feel that at the time I bought mine, i got the best price possible. This is NOT dynamat, it is not sticky, is is not a butyl variant and cannot be squooshed around. This is not for your car... not saying you cant use it, just that there are dedicated MLVs for that purpose out there and this stuff ain't it.

Significantly different than 1.5lb MLV
I bought this after having worked only with 1.5lb mlv in the past. 1.5lb MLV is fairly rigid and needs to be screwed in.In contrast, staples worked with the 1lb mlv and the screws went right through. This MLV is flexible and can be scored and pulled apart. This makes it easy to work with if it is already placed (say cutting out wire holes).I can say that MLV definitely works. I bought a DB meter to test various scenarios and I do notice a difference. If you are looking for something a little more rigid, stick with 1.5lb or above. If you are looking for flexibility and ease of handling, this stuff will do you just fine

Use as part of a system
(1/8”) This is a construction-stage product. Meaning this is designed to be applied before Sheetrock. HOWEVER, if you are like me and are simply using this as a way to block noise WITHOUT TEARING ANYTHING DOWN, here is how. I applied this under a rug and between a rug pad. I flipped the rug over, put this under, cut it to size, then put the rug pad over, and flipped the rug. The end result is a rug-mlv-rug pad. If you are using this to try to cover a door, THIS DOES NOT ADHERE. Nor will tape stick to this, to my observation. What you will have to do is buy the 0.4” 230kg/m3 Bubos (or comparable) pads, say 12” Size, cut this down to say 10.5 or 11”, use the super sticky gorilla black double sided tape (or clear double sided) if it works, and stick those panels TOGETHER AROUND THE EDGE, with the mlv layer centered between them. It may be good to have a hole in the center of the mlv as well and double layer the tape to stick the pads together there. You then take THAT and double sided tape that to the door. That is the only way I can see a temporary removable application of the mlv to a door. You could probably substitute the pad for something else.
