Completely Disaster.
When I recommended How I Lost You by my friend I thought I would love this book. I love thriller and mystery, and I do love Gone Girl. And I regret reading this book. Literally. Regret. Reading. This. Book.lt reminds me of Bunny Lake is Missing: the first half is very good and interesting. You fall for it. You love it. But the last half is a disaster. Ok, fair enough, the last half of Bunny Lake is NOT really disaster; it’s just mediocre. The word “disaster” is for How I Lost You.Every clue given in the book seems to indicate A is a culprit. However, it is B. You read the book again and find clues so well hidden and you missed. You didn’t know it was a critical clue when you first saw it but you realize when you read it again. It is what people say 'good plot twist.' But if B is a culprit because of clues never shown to the readers, it’s not a plot twist. It’s cheating. How I Lost You is the latter. A friend of mine said she failed to find who the culprit was. Of course she failed. The 'cheating' is not HILY's only problem. Believe it or not, so many mysteries failed even the author couldn't think of a good solution. Interesting mystery can be easily made; the solution is not. HILY's solution doesn't make sense: it sacrifices its reasonable answer for a final twist. And HILY's plots are not connected very well; first of all, why did **spoiler alert** think there would be a connection between **spoiler alert** and Susan's baby? The idea of so-called secret association is just horrible (it isn't necessary at all!). I never recommend this book to anybody.By the way, Mattew Riley must be 38 in 2010 instead of 36 since he was 15 in 1987. Or he is two years younger than others?

An adequate thriller: Not the best, not the worst
This book started out really good, so after reading the sample I bought it. It wasn't "bad", but it did not live up to my expectations. I figured out the "twist" early on, but I kept reading because I wanted to know why, so I guess it accomplished it goal. Since the book was pretty cheap, I guess I got my money's worth.

Predictable
I wanted to like this book, and it definitely kept me reading... but sadly I had figured it out very early on and only kept going to see if I was right or if there was a twist I had not expected. It just wasn't well-written enough to deserve more stars. It could have been such a good book.

Great read
Although plot seemed far-fetched in some ways hence the 4 stars. Loved that I was kept guessing although this was aided by the multiple characters that may not have been required. Would recommend.

It was ok some of the writing was a bit juvenile considering the seriousness of the subject. The book did keep me reading to the end and some of the characters remained mysterious to the end.

Much too much padding, too long to join the 2 threads of the story. Main character unbelievably gullible considering all she is supposed to have been through.
