ENGELMT17 16 Quart Portable Top Opening 12/24V DC - 110/120V AC Fridge-Freezer

I’ve been searching 2 years for a small fridge/ freezer that would fit between the front seats of my 2022 Ford Transit camper van. I finally settled on the Engel MT17. I’m very happy with it. My van has an electric parking brake, so no handbrake lever. The MT17 just fits with about 1/4” to spare on each side of the seatbelt latches, and is just a bit lower than the seats. It seems exceptionally well made, and is very quiet, less than 45db ~5” from the compressor when it is running. I especially like that it is flat on top (for our dogs to sit), very sturdy (it weighs 39 lb!) and has an old-fashion rotary knob temp control (less to go wrong). I’ve ordered the fitted soft cover for protection and additional insulation. Recommended!

I bought this a year and a half ago and it was about $200.00 cheaper, I don't know if I would spend as much as they want for it now. It's great for my CJ5, it works at any angle (doesn't have to be level) and does what it's supposed to do. It can work as a fridge or freezer and takes a good pounding in the back of the Jeep, I also bought the cover for it to keep it clean and dust free. It runs off of 12v or 110v and it didn't seem to draw the battery down too much.

Perfect product as advertised. I would like it to has a bigger interior volume.

This is my second Engel, which I’ve used as a freezer. I live off grid with a small battery/solar set up (300 watt panel, 125 amp gel battery) so low power draw is essential. It’s quiet (but not silent) and so well insulated that the compressor hardly comes on. My two friends who also live off grid have since purchased Engels - the RV door front type - and they are very happy with them too. I do turn the larger cooler off at night to save power and have silence and it’s plenty cold in the morning.

I ordered this item back in May 2015, its a refrigerator. When the item arrived it was not working. I followed standard protocol and contacted manufacturer, who had me ship the item to them. When they returned the item, screws were missing, and the item was still not working. Manufacturer had me ship the item back again, and once again upon arrival the unit was still not working. They not want me to take this unit to a repair place that is located over 1 hour away from where I live. As a customer from Amazon, I purchased an expensive item, it was defective from day 1, and after 2 rounds of repairs the item is still defective. I feel at this time, I should be able to return this defective item for a full refund.Please note that all I wanted was to buy a refrigerator, and this has turned into a 2 month saga filled with phone calls, emails, shipping and returns. I should be able to just buy an item and have it worked correctly and be treated as a valued customer, and not have to run around, as if the defective unit is somehow my problem.

This fits perfectly between the front seats of our RV Sprinter. It is quiet, draws little current, and does a great job of keeping ice cream really frozen.

Very reliable piece of equipment

Outstanding product. Low energy use and very effective at everything from refrigeration to FROZEN solid. Before buying this smaller model we needed to use a friends larger model for 2 months while we replaced our boat's refrigerator /freezer. Both are outstanding. They are pricey, but you pay for what you get.
