Best I've tried for the price.
I played violin through elementary, jr high, and high school and thought the "violin hickey" was just from bad skin and not showering enough. Turns out it was because I was having a bad reaction to the wood/varnish of the chinrest. I recently picked this up and have had no further issues. At the time of this review, this was the cheapest chinrest available with prime shipping. It's extremely easy to put on your violin, just loop it over get to playing! It's soft (well, much softer than wood)!I really appreciate the color: it actually goes with the orange/red/brown-ness of your violin; and for the price, might as well give it a try.2 YEAR UPDATE: I've been using the same chinrest for two years now, and its held up beautifully. You'll notice a lot of people who play their violin a lot develop some scarring below their chin - this will definitely help to prevent that (and if you've already developed it like me, it'll keep it from getting worse!)

Favorite solution yet
I've been playing for 20 years and play professionally so my violin and face spend a lot of time together. This is by far the best solution I've found so far to deal with both discomfort of wood on skin and also my allergy to the metal chinrest clamps. I've tried cloths of all sorts of materials, even chamoix (because it's less slippery), but this is the most comfortable and convenient because it stays on, is slightly padded like a pillow for your face, and also isn't slippery... so my violin has never felt so secure; secure enough that an avid proponent of shoulder rests (me), has no problem going with out one if I had to. I ended up buying another one as a backup/for use on my other violins.

Works fairly well
Soft and comfortable.

The device is purely for the chin rest, and does nothing to protect the clamps
High quality, soft, OK for small, chin rest, but if you have problems with the clamps, impacting your clavicle, this will not help at all. If the chinrest is higher than normal, it may not work either.

Perfect!
I got this because my “violin spot” on my neck started getting quite red and sore. I’ve been playing for years, but it has just recently become more agitated. I’m so glad I found this. It is perfect. It’s soft and comfortable and fits over the chin rest perfectly, and the brown blends in nicely with the color of my violin. It protects my neck very well.

Elastic not durable
The elastic broke the same day. Also it isn’t able to cover the metal of the chin rest if that imprints and hurts your collarbone.

Perfect!
I play my violin without a shoulder rest. This product turned out to be perfect in protecting both my violin (from make-up and facial cream) and myself (I am allergic to metal). It fits perfectly to the chinrest, covers over the metal part, and does not move around. The material is soft and lightly-cushioned, comfortable, and does not dampen the sound of the instrument.

Rubber Band is not what it used to be
I ordered one of these a few years back, and have never had an issue with fit or the band breaking. It was an amazing solution for not only comfort, but finally I have no visible marks from my violin hickey! After 35 years of playing, it is a God-send I wish I knew about earlier. But I ordered another one so I could try to wash the first one, but the second I tried putting it on, the band broke. Granted, I have the first one to take the band on and off of, but you shouldn't have to do that.I hope the update the bands on this this otherwise amazing product.
