I spent a long time searching for a new ice machine. Over the last 20 years I have had (2) Scotsman machines and a Ice-O-Matic that made the cool pearl nugget ice. These machines were $2,000+ each at time of purchase and all of them went bad at about the 6 year mark. You know., right after the warranty ends. The "repairs" are more than just buying a new one. Funny how it seems to work that way. These machines were heavily serviced as recommended and we also used water filters "in-line" to assist in longevity. This time I tried a new path. So far this machine has done very well. You have to slightly break up the ice after it falls, but that is not a big issue at all. The price is excellent for the quality of ice. I recommend,.. and I did a lot of looking and searching before I pulled the trigger on this machine. We are three months in.. and so far so good.

I replaced an agging Scotsman ice machine with this product. The machine was easy to install and is far better than I had imagined being about half the cost of the Scotman it replaced. Reviews that complain about the noise are unfounded. Yes, ice machines make noise - they all do. The Edgestar is a well built ice machine that should give years of trouble free service. My unit started making ice imediately with no problems and the pump drain was easy and straight forward to install. If you are new to installing, there is a wealth of information on the internet including videos provided by EdgeStar.

I purchased the edgestar in 2021 it seemed like a deal it was not. It worked fine for about 17 months as promised. It started having problems in January of this year would not make ice. Did the cleaning as directed to no avail. I contacted the living social people to find out where they recommend having it fixed but they couldn’t supply a repair house.I went online and found someone who was willing to take a look. Come to find out that the unit that I was sold was 9 years old and there were no parts available to fix it. Spent $100 to find out that it was a piece of junk that could not be fixed.I give the edgestar -2 stars and would not recommend it to my worst enemy

I purchased a Scotsman cocktail cube maker in another property and it is extremely load, sounds like baseballs dropping into a plastic bucket. Purchased the edgestar for a vacation property and absolutely love it, when I read the reviews, some comments said it was noisy, I think it operates very quiet. I wish bought the edgestar first, I would have never bought the Scotsman unit.

*Revised after a few years.... This thing is crazy noisy and about every two weeks it makes a loud beeping sound that requires you to restart it (shut off then back on). In the last 6 months, I've come home from a trip to find a large puddle on the floor because it shuts itself off when it beeps and then stops draining so the water pours out as the ice melts. I would not buy this again.Bought this for an under counter ice maker in our pool room/bar area. It isn't critical that it be super quiet - which is good because it is not quiet at all. It looks nice - the kick plate/exhaust area at the base is flush with the front vs being tucked under a bit like many - that is ok as it is all stainless. Hookup was pretty easy. My first reaction after turning it on was "wow, this is loud" - but you get used to it to an extent. I still think that you get what you pay for and while this was a great deal for the amount of ice it makes, it is quite loud - well - very loud. The second issue I have if I am being picky is that when the sheets of ice drop, you really have to get after it with the scoop to break the pieces up - I know, first world problems - but wanted to be complete here. All things considered, it was this or the $2200 KitchenAid machine, so short of winning the lottery I'd buy this again.

We bought the EdgeStar IB450SSP for our basement kitchen because it was economically priced, made a large volume of ice each day, and had a built in pump. Those were all important items to us. I will echo what other people have stated, this ice machine is a bit louder than I expected. This was the last appliance I installed and prior to turning it on our basement was silent, even with a full size fridge and a wine fridge running. Overall I still give it 4/5 stars though and once the ice bin is full it becomes silent and will only kick on when needed.Pros:High ice production (empty to full bin in about 2-3 hours).Ice "sheets" break apart easily.Great tasting ice when paired with a reverse osmosis filtration system.Blue light looks higher end and is a nice touch.Cons:A little noisy. You can hear water running when it is making ice, and if the bin is empty you'll hear a loud noise when first few sheets drop.Front panel is not finger print resistant. You'll see finger prints on it easily.Adjustable legs only raise unit about 1 inch. Leaves a 2-3 inch gap between top of unit and counter, so you'll need to shim it if you want it flush or at least close to counter.Overall I do recommend this unit. I would not purchase it for a main kitchen due to noise, but if you have a basement or pool area then it will be great. Thanks for reading!

We were looking for a Quiet one with “cube” ice and this is perfect!!! I do recommend attaching a charcoal replaceable filter on the water line and the ice is Super clean.
