I love these boots.
Someone posted that the leather was too thin. Someone else, that it may not last as long as the harder leather. I'd say that there is no break in period, the leather is smooth and fits like a glove, and TG for that. Time will tell if the leather doesn't last, which I doubt will be the case. This is the real thing, ostrich, and feels like shark skin, thin but strong. I have owned one set of elephant leather boots, one set of shark skin boots, and this my first pair of ostrich boots, which so far I love. The last pair of boots I owned were leather ostrich stamped, not to be confused with the real thing. They were size 9.5. They look almost like this pair, and were nicely worn, and comfortable, until for some reason they started hurting my feet, as if I had grown. I had to give them away. Well, I'm not very hard on shoes, as I don't walk that much anymore, and these are no work boots. If I wanted work boots, I would purchase steel toes. These are simply elegant boots that can be worn with jeans as well as with slacks, or a suit, which I have done and received several compliments already. The wonderful smell of leather takes a while to dissipate. I maybe old fashion, but I simply loooove that smell. Did I say these are comfortable? Right off the bat, first day, I walked about three miles on them as I covered a new territory that day (something very unusual for me, but walking is good for my health) and they didn't bother my feet. At 60+, this is great.

Comparison with Lucchese
These are really nice boots, I'm very happy with them. They're a lot lighter weight than I was expecting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing after a long day. For the price they're absolutely amazing and an unbeatable value. Compared to my Lucchese 1883's (that cost twice as much) these fit slightly larger, I can wear thick socks with these boots versus only thin comfortably with the Luccheses's in a 9.5D. The toe box area is also significantly wider which makes them very comfortable right out of the box. They feel as good/better than the 3 year old broken in Lucchese's. As far as the sole goes, the 1883's are more comfortable with more padding, the leather is about twice the thickness on the uppers of the 1883's.The ostrich leather itself is very nice, I looked them over and didn't notice any defects, it's 2 solid pieces per boot, the seam is right at the heel as you can see in the pictures, no cheap piecing together.I've only worn them around the house so far to make sure they fit right, I'll try and remember to come back and rate the durability after a year of wear. So far I'm very impressed, would definitely recommend to a friend.

Dan Post boots are AWESOME!
I LOVE Dan post boots. I own 14 pairs of boots, and 12 of them are Dan Post boots, and the other 2 pairs are Lucchese. The Dan Post boots are a perfect fit in length and width. When ordering the Lucchese boots, keep in mind that it is necessary to order at least the next half size up, so if you wear an 11 EW in a Dan Post, you need to order size 11-1/2 EE in Lucchese in order to get the same fit. The Dan Post exotic boots are more comfortable than Lucchese boots. Now how’s that for a testimonial that I didn’t even get paid for. Dan Post is the best fit and best boot for the money.Richard Useda

Better than expected!
I have owned a lot of expensive and beautiful exotic western boots over the years and this pair of Dan Post ostrich boots have now become one of my three favorites. They arrived earlier than expected and they exceeded my expectations. The color was true and also gorgeous. The boots fit great, they're very soft and feel like they came already broke in. The price was fantastic. I have been shopping for ostrich boots for awhile and the overall price and quality of the boots at the offered price was a great buy. Much better than I had seen in western stores. I would recommend these to anyone.

Very nice boot for the money.
I bought these boots in my normal size and they ran a little big. I had to return them for a 1/2 a size smaller. The boots were soft and well made. They felt like they were broken in from the time I got them. They are going to be a very nice dress boot. Make sure you buy a good moisturizer cleaner conditioner for exotic skins. I ended up buying Scout Reptile & Exotic Leather Cleaner & Conditioner. Most cleaner conditioners are for smooth leather. I gave it a five star because Dan Post makes a quality boot and for the price on Amazon you cannot go wrong. They are over $100.00 less than the big boot outlets. They are not the cream of the crop Lucchese, But they are a close second. They are made in Mexico not China, They do wear cowboy boots in Mexico!!!!! Amazon amazes me every time I do a search and they have it from Cowboy boots to 1911 gun parts and a great selection of Music.

Fabulous boots
They fit great, look great and they are very comfortable! If I can only point to one issue, I wish the leg barrel was a bit stiffer and not so soft. Nonetheless, the boots are really nice. I do wish they were made in the US though. It's be halt to pay a bit more if they were.
