Why is this watch priced significantly less than the retail price on the tag heur website ($5,350). How do I know this is a real watch? Thank you

I have modelcw2113-0 with plexiglass lens not crystal. If you can get serial number and contact Tag you might get more info. If you can find a local jewelry store that carries Tags they might be your best source of info.

Seller stated "...unauthorized channel (or dealer).. that still don't say it's authentic. Right?

First let me say that I am not a watch dealer. I'm just a guy who loves fine watches and have bought & sold many in my life. To answer the question that was asked, lots of authentic watches can be sold through unauthorized dealers for a number of reasons. For example the seller could have bought some of their inventory from an authorized dealer that went out of business. It doesn't mean that the watch isn't legit. Obviously you want to buy from an authorized dealer whenever possible so you get the factory warranty but, the best prices will typically come from non-authorized dealers. Most authorized dealers will take at least 10% off the retail price for a high end watch (except Rolex). I have personally bought high-end watches (Tag, Omega, Breitling, Baume & Mercier) through Non-authorized dealers at discounts up to 45% depending on the watch. For me, it's always been more about knowing what I am buying is AUTHENTIC than who I buy it from. If you buy an authentic watch, you can always resell it, even if it was from a non-authorized dealer. Obviously, if you buy a fake you are screwed and there are a lot of good looking FAKE high end watches out there. Some look 100% on the outside to the untrained eye but open and it up and you might find a cheap $30 Japanese movement. So here are my rules I follow for buying high-end watches: 1. Buy it in person if you can. This gives you a chance to touch and put it on with out paying first. Just because you like the pictures doesn't mean you are going to like how it looks/feels on your wrist. If the best deal is through an online seller then try to find a store that carries that watch and at least go see it before you buy. 2. Know what you are buying. Is it "Unworn", "New", "Used", "Mint" condition. Many sellers have different definitions on what these terms mean. Ask questions until you are satisfied you understand what is being sold. 3. If buying from an non-authorized dealer ask if they guarantee their watches are 100% authentic AND get a written copy of their return/refund policy. Some may charge a restocking fee or refuse to take the watch back if you have it sized to fit you. 4. Verify the authenticity of the watch as soon as you receive it. There are a number of ways to do this whether it's a website or by taking it to an authorized dealer. If you can't authenticate it your chances of reselling the watch for anything close to the value of an authentic watch is slim to none. 5. Pay for the watch with a Gold or Platinum card that has purchase protection so you can dispute the charge if the watch is fake, damaged or not what you ordered. You may get offered a better deal by paying cash but I only do this if I have purchased from that dealer before. I would rather get 30% off using my Platinum card and pay it off when the bill comes versus getting 35% off on a cash deal. 6. Whenever possible get the ORIGINAL box and papers. If you decide to sell it is worth more with these items. Sorry to be long winded here but these are some important and expensive lessons I have learned buying fine watches for the past 20+ years. I got this watch as a gift for my 51st birthday from a former colleague. It meant a lot to me because there wasn't much of a celebration at home: my kids had gone to stay with my brother- and sister-in-law and my wife was not being very appreciative of all that I do. It's been very practical for work: many of my tasks involve very precise timing, and I need something that will not snag or protrude as I go back and forth between business casual and my full chemical barrier zip-on.I've gotten a number of compliments on it, but I took the one star off because for some of us it might seem ostentatious and raise questions. However, I can't be sure whether these kinds of reactions stemmed from my new watch or the sweet couple of cars I bought for myself and my son around the same time. I do think it's relatively versatile: I recommend this watch without reservation to someone building an empire, but it will also work for someone who is out (or claiming to be out).Now I am off to find Pollos Hermanos on Yelp.

My wife and I received Monaco watches for our wedding...very beautiful gift and by far the most expensive thing I own. The blue color and square shape make it stand out against all the circle watches. Couldn't be happier with it!

50th Anniversary of the movie "Le Mans"

This watch was reissued on the 50th anniversary of the movie "Le Mans". The watch made a brief appearance in what is considered one of the top five racing movies, not much dialogue but lots of racing. The watch is great and I love it. Walter White might be the King of Evil but remember I am the "King of Cool."Since purchased the watch the value has increased by $2000.00.
