If you know and enjoy marzipan, Niederegger is THE brand to buy. You’re buying from the source of marzipan for the past 200+ years (and still family-owned)! I like the large loaves because of the value, though US trade-practices sadly bump the price of European products up quite a bit more than if you were to buy this item in Germany. But if you love marzipan, there is no substitute and it’s worth the splurge.

This is the best size, if you have a serious Marzipan fetish. All the other sizes are too small or have a too high $/oz.I've ordered this several times. You need to order early (Mid-November) to get the freshest bars, and the highest availability. Store it in the 'fridge until the Winter Holidays.Note that non-Marzipanners will likely appreciate Roche chocolate "Ping Pong Ball-sized gobbets of marzipan. This can be an intimidating amount of marzipan to the uninitiated.

Short of going to Germany and sitting in the Café Niederegger in central Lübeck, order a loaf of this Marzipan to enjoy with friends and a cup of your favorite coffee.People who say they don't like Marzipan have usually been subjected to one of those stale and soap-like confections meant to resemble pieces of fruit and often left over from at least three Christmases past, because nobody liked them then either. This Marzipan is different, the real thing, like the Marzipan the angels are said to eat in Heaven. Um!

My husband was stationed in Germany over 20 years ago and always raved about the Marzipan bars he ate one day. I saw these and secretly purchased them for him. He actually had tears of joy as he sliced off one piece after another. All three were gone within a week. I only wish the company would offer them again as prime items. Will buy again, though, regardless of shipping.
