George Lazenby steps into the role of James Bond and is sent on his first mission. This 1969 James Bond movie is the only one to star George Lazenby. Unexpectedly, it stands out from the other Bond films of that decade with a plot that is quite consistent, characters who are much more fully developed, a willful lead female protagonist, more humourous asides and superb locations by the ocean in Portugal and in the snowy Swiss Alps. Of course, replacing Sean Connery who was well established as James Bond was a momentous undertaking, but one can fathom that George Lazenby could have himself set the standard if he had started the series. This oft disregarded installment is in the end very worthwhile and highly recommended to all who appreciate Bond movies.

I already had this DVD, so I bought this copy for someone who likes James Bond films. While I wouldn't say this is the weakest film of the lot, it isn't a bad film at all. I will say the film is somewhat weakened by George Lazenby's inexperience to act, and it really is Diana Rigg who carries the film and elevates it. I definitely recommend it.
