Why did you pick this product vs others?:There's a lot of these latches out there but beware, many have a hollow back and are thin and cheap. These are very solid all the way through. Will definitely buy these again

Solid metal not stamped

Small but yet solid metal, not the pressed out thin tin type. The spring loaded notch is a nice touch to keep the latch lever from spinning all around, and holds it in the latch or non-latch position. The screws are nice for small applications, (1/4 inch long) but may need to be replaced with longer ones in some cases. It’d be nice if they came in sets of 2 or 4, left and right hand versions. I have 19 extra, but the solid metal composition was worth it to me.

The latch was easy to install. It looks pretty and is more hefty than the other types I bought from stores. However, the latch is probably iron as it started rusting (I use it for outdoor). There is also a problem with the alignment as the part with the hole is lower than the latch part. Maybe it is by design, I don’t know. Overall, the price is attractive enough that I don’t mind using them for small projects.

These are surprisingly study for what they cost. I will definitely buy again when I run out. They swivel well and lock into place with spring loaded tension at the 90degree marks which make them extraordinarily useful! 5 stays across the board because it does everything very well.As for the sheerness that amazon wants me to rate it on... I found this word a bit vague so I looked it up. "Sheerness is a town and civil parish beside the mouth of the River Medway on the north-west corner of the Isle of Sheppey in north Kent, England. With a population of 12,000, it is the largest town on the island."These products were made in China, not Sheerness, but I'm am still inclined to give it a 5 star rating because of the quality of function.

Latches with screws and easy to install

I bought these to use on leather projects. The spring that holds the latch in place works and the base is notched so it stays shut or open without issues. They look great and are functional. It's worth noting that I am unable to detect any nickel on these, so they are usable for people with nickel allergies. Some are a bit stiff at first, but that happens with a lot of hardware. Two of the base parts with the holed needed a little working as there was a bit of extra metal in the holes from the metal casting, yet they were easy to fix. The holes for the strews or rivets are 2 cm apart on both pieces and when latched the holes on the separate pieces are 1.5 cm apart.
