Not really a beginners book
Seems like a great book but not for a complete novice. I didn’t read the whole book as I want to start with something simpler. Taking LinkedIn courses instead for now. From browsing through it seemed lot of helpful info. perhaps as a course textbook for marketing students (examples of cases etc). FYI- keep in mind I didn’t read the whole thing but perused through the chapters quickly before returning.

Well crafted book for strategic planning
As an advertising professional with almost 20 years experience this book gave me some really useful and practical planning principles for my ‘toolkit’. What will keep it evergreen is that It often references how quickly the digital landscape will change and emphasises the need to keep staying curious and open minded.

This book is great as a starting point to develop a marketing strategy. It gives the big picture of the entire digital ecosystem it’s needed to build to be succesful with a digital enterprise.

If you're a lazy reader, or looking for something that is dumbed down, this is not the book for you. Dense but very informative!

Great resource on digital marketing techniques
Great resource for anyone who wants to a refresher on digital marketing, or wants to learn about digital marketing techniques. This is my 'go to' book for all things digital marketing.

Does not work on kindle.
Digital version doesn't quite show figures/tables correctly. Kindle versionly only shows text.

Watch out: If one is looking a book which explains SEO, SEM, analytics, or similar digital marketing specific techniques, this is not the right book to buy. This book gives a general overview about digital marketing: SEO, SEM, customer experience, digitalization and digital transformation, among many other concepts. It is a really good book highly recommended to marketing technicians or people interested on learning about this particular field.

This is a big book at 460 pages but it says a lot without saying much at all in terms of actionable value. It just waffles on giving you a high level description (yes, description. Like reading a marketing dictionary) of a ton of different marketing items, then even fails to effectively show you how to pull it all together into a solid strategy at the end. To top it off diagrams and titles etc were all misaligned and not rendered properly in the kindle version. One of the worst marketing books I’ve read.

This book is an absolutely essential resource for anyone who is involved in marketing. Digital marketing is no longer a stand alone subject, digital marketing is marketing and Simon makes that really clear. He doesn’t see digital marketing as separate and his book ensures the fundemental principles of marketing are described and applied to digital techniques. This is clearly a book written by someone that knows how digital marketing works in the real world. Full disclosure, ive not quite finished the book yet. However, I’m well over half way and so far it’s been incredibly helpful to help give my knowledge more structure so that I can take a more strategic approach to my work.

I've been a website, SEO guys for a long time and decided to go after the full meal deal in the world of marketing. This book is literally a bible I carry around with me wherever I go and use almost everyday at work. Mind you this book is not about specializing in every aspect of marketing but covers industry standard strategies and is a lot more relevant than you think. It also suggests in-depth readings based on the subject you're reading. Highly recommend.

Good overview on digital tools. This is not a strategy book for sure. Maybe "digital marketing tools" would have been a more suitable title.
