The Little Book of History : DK: desertcart.in: Books Review: Good content but improve the printing quality - Though the book is really great contentwise however I am not satisfied by the print quality of the book.Following are the pros & cons- Pros- 1.Content is good,accurate & unbiased. 2.Amazing & well laid mind maps & flow charts. 3.Good summary & side topics explained. 4.Concepts neither too short nor too long. Cons- 1.The whole book is in black,white & grey.No other colour at all. 2.Pics are black & white too. 3.Printing font is small & of newspaper letter size. 4.Paper quality is ok but not very well.It wasn't expected from DK publishers which is generally known for a far superior quality of paper,print & illustrations. This book is an abridged edition of The History Book (big one) from the same publisher and it is better to put some extra money & buy that book to have more pleasant experience.This book looks like a poor man's version of the same book. I wonder whether its a copied version of the same to be sold in India?Why do many publishers using such paper quality now a days.Books are meant to be preserved for the lifetime but now they are being designed with the use & throw approach. Sad but bitter truth. In the end I need to emphasise that the book is really good contentwise however has some printing deficiencies which i have mentioned.Must buy if you can ignore these. Review: Surprisingly good survey of the world for the uninitiated. - Decent survey of the history of the world for someone who knows very little on the topic. I like the way books sets context and provides a timeline for similar events which took place in the past and would to in the future. I would have preferred if it was this had the exact same content as the big “The History Book” of Big Ideas Simply Explained series, but they do skip some topics covered in that one. The size on the other hand is a big plus, at least for me.

Surprisingly good survey of the world for the uninitiated.
Decent survey of the history of the world for someone who knows very little on the topic. I like the way books sets context and provides a timeline for similar events which took place in the past and would to in the future. I liked this History book as it requires all the major information that the person i bought it for requires, also it was in very good condition and i was very satisfied with it, it was bought as a Christmas Present

Love the layout and design, it's really well written and it's clear! It's not in colour like the bigger versions but I don't mind.

My son is studying history A level and loves this book. Plenty of very interesting information which is well laid.
