I Like This Book
I have several of Ray's books. All of them are good. I bought this (via Kindle) about an hour ago and read it. I must say that I think that the criticisms of those regarding his "ego" and his recommendations of his sponsors (excuse me, but is this not a legitimate recourse?) are somewhat unfounded. Do his recipes work? Well, I have used those similar to these, and yes, they work. Does he tell you which smoker to use? No. He tells you to work with YOUR smoker, and determine how to control the temperature! Time, temperature, rubs (and injections), foil wrapping, etc. What more could you want except to have him come to your house and do it for you? I believe this book to be a keeper, and I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic reference book for the beginner or the pro.
I've had this cookbook for a few years now and I absolutely love it. When I first bought the book, I was not new to BBQ-ing or smoking, but I wasn't overly experienced either. There are numerous tricks of the trade that Lampe outlines in this book that will instantly make your BBQ better. I find that the book's real insight and expertise come from the "Big-Time" recipes that Lampe uses for competitions. The other recipes that I've used from this book are good, but the instruction and recipes for his competition dishes are worth the purchase of the book alone. If you are looking to impress your friends with your skills around a smoker or grill, I would recommend this book to get you going in the right direction. If you are already a seasoned BBQ competitor, the book offers a way to compare yourself to one of the most successful competition cooks in the country and provides a jump off point for exploring new recipes.

Money well spent
I just recieved this cookbook a few days ago. I really like how it's written. It's nice to see a cookbook with some personality. I especially like how his rubs and sauces use ingredients that the average joe has in the kitchen, nothing exotic or overly fancy. His step-by-step instructions are great. My only gripe about this book is the lack of pictures of the food. There are several pictures of some of the dishes and events, but most of them look like the printer ran out of black ink and used red instead, which makes it difficult to see what the dish is supposed to look like. All in all, it's a well written cookbook and well worth the price.

An Actual BBQ Cookbook (Finally!)
Ray Lampe has assembled an excellent compilation of recipes that cover all aspects of BBQ and grilling. Recipes use common ingredients and are very easy to follow. Interspersed with these are cool stories and background from Ray's experiences in the BBQ community. The only complaint I have and why I gave it four stars is that some of the print and pictures are in red. This mainly made it difficult to make out the subject of the pictures.

Great smoking / bbq cookbook
This is my go to bbq book. Has lots of info for cooking on the green egg. I purchased this one for a friend who is just starting to cook on a green egg.Great bookMike

I bought this book for my husband's birthday and he is delighted with it! He is an Egghead (grills on a Big Green Egg) and we saw Ray Lampe a couple of years ago at Eggtoberfest doing a demo - he is one of those cooks who makes it entertaining. Everything my husband has grilled has been de-lish!

Almost a perfect BBQ Book
I'd actually give this a 4.8 if I could but I can't so I'll give it a 4. For the most part this book is flawless and I was really enjoying it. Up until he mentions barbecuing tofu. What??!! Tofu has no place in bbq. That's my opinion though. This book is still worth the money though. I'll just tear out that page and forget about it.

Great Recipes And Ideas...
I love this book and have been using it for several years. I get more compliments on my ribs using his basic recipe; though I do tweak it a bit to fit more of my family's and guest's tastes than any other I have used. I appreciate how easy to read and how the Dr. explains things so that even a novice can feel like a pro. I recommend this book without any hesitation. Good luck and happy Cueing!

good bbq book
Although this book is mainly aimed at the BIG American bbq fairs,the recipies can be adapted for the average British back garden and mighty tasty they look too.If your bbqing is more than burgers and sausages then give this book a try.

Liked the book but not sure on the black and white pages rather than colour not sure if a legitimate made book .

Great Book...
Fantastic book. I've actuslly given this book to many of my bbq enthusiast friends. Lots of great recipes and easy to follow instructions. I have the Big Green Egg and the book seems to be especially written with this cooker in mind (although the author doesn't come out and say it!)
