Q: Unit is too tall for my RV. Can it be laid on its side?

Per the manufacturer the unit can be mounted in any direction.

Q: I won't use the charger. Will it work as an inverter sans any 120v input?

You just need to give it around 48V (batteries and/or solar and/or wind too, i guess). actually, you can program it down to 37V using a MATE, iirc. The 120V AC input is just for backup, and it's not required (so, for instance if you are running it indoors and you only have 200 watts of solar, you can still use that 200 watts to run a 1500 watt heater, but the other 1300 watts will come from your AC mains power source)

This offer is the inverter only and does not include NEC required input/output disconnects (fuses or breakers). Optional Outback Power inverter controller MATE3 is also sold separately.
