Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future

This catalogue is simply exquisite! It perfectly honors Hilma af Klint, a true visionary and creative genius. The essays are insightful and the reproductions are excellent. It's a wonderful accompaniment to the groundbreaking exhibition shown at the Guggenheim NY.

I saw this show in NY when it was at the Guggenheim. Amazing woman, amazing artist. Notably she was creating abstract works before Kandinsky, Mondrian and the other modernists who became known as the men who pioneered it. Her story, her journals, her methods for creating art are all fascinating, and the book includes high-quality color reproductions of many of the works shown in the exhibition as well as essays and interviews about her early work, her place contextually in both the narrative of modern art and within Sweden (where she is from) and the subject matter she addressed in her work. I would definitely recommend it.

This hard bound book is an excellent historical work on the art of Hilma af Klint now on view at the Guggenheim. True to every exhibition and publication presented by the Guggenheim, this is "top notch". This book is rich with detail both in the color reproductions of Hilma af Klint's art and the scholastic writing that elucidate the historical significance of this exhibition. There is a perfect companion book, HILMA AF KLINT Notes and Methods, that I got at the same time as the Guggenheim publication. What I magnificent artist being honored in these two newly published books.

This is the catalog for the show of the same title presented at the Guggenheim (NY) in 2018. Gorgeous color plates are the most obvious part. Reading the various sections was even better. A number of essays from authors with different specialty areas as well as the over-arching one by curator Tracey Bashkoff, plus a transcription of a conversation about the artist between very informed curators, artists and art historians. Offers a multi-perspective view of this astounding artist, her life and her work.

The book is great. Just what I expected. It was a new clean copy.

This is a very nice, high quality book! The photos of Klint's paintings are featured with good resolution and color, and her life'swork and history are well described through out. I consider this a great purchase!

Watched the movie (the worst sub- titled documentary I've ever seen) but got a taste for this talented artist- Wow is all I can say- it seems modern art owes a debt to her that is almost unknown...I want to see this work in person, I think it's just a terrifically unique use of color and shape and I can see why and how she influenced art for the ages of modern times.

Hilma of Clint was a woman with a mathatical and artistic temperament in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Her work is inspirational. I highly recommend this book!.
