Fix that flappy E…
I had bought my Squire Bass Vi 2nd hand which came with factory strings. The low E was a bit flappy and as I have a gig coming up got these in hope that it settled the issue and yes it does. Problem solved. Solid, sound good, still got that McCartney plop to it. Value for money compared to others. I ideally wanted flat wounds but the brightness can be tamed and the playability is superb. Dont pay attention to the haters, these strings slap!!!

Fixes the bottom E problem
Unbelievable. This fixes the problem with the rattling and out of tune bottom E string. Check out my video review. Can't believe just changing a string had solved it. The string is slightly heavier gauge (as shown on the photographs). There's instructions for what strings are what - but only for 4 & 5 strings, not 6. But you can work out which is which. Apart from all that they sound lovely. Only just put them on so dunno how long the brightness will last but other reviews have said they're bright for a while. But ultimately, if you've got a fender vi bass, you'll have the problem with the e string rattling and not being in tune, no matter how high you raise the action or far back you adjust the bridge. If you buy these strings, miraculously, they fix that issue. I was thinking of selling my bass and going 4 strings but I'm not now. Fantastic.

A solution to the Squier Bass VI intonation issue? Maybe...
The Squier Bass VI has an intonation issue when using the strings that came with the instrument (24-34-44-56-72-84). The lower E string is a bit light and cannot be intonated correctly, even with the saddle as far back as possible and the bridge set high and fixed. The only effective workaround was to tune the lower E string at the fifth fret and allow the open string to be flat. The good news is that this string set (24, 34, 44, 65, 80, 100) goes a long way to resolving this intonation issue. It's not 100% perfect but good enough to allow the use of the open lower E string. Pros: 1) The instrument can be tuned and intonated correctly. Finally. 2) The thicker lower strings sound fuller and more bass-like than those in the default set. Cons: 1) A relatively high action is still needed for this improved intonation. 2) The strings sound really, really, REALLY bright, especially when played with a pick. Based on past experience it will take some time for these strings to lose this brightness. 3) Thicker strings mean greater string tension. Those poor, poor machine heads. Many Bass VI playing forumites swear that the La Bella flatwounds are the way to go, but that potential solution has a ~£50 to £70 price tag. That's a lot of money for a set of guitar strings, especially if the Bass VI is not your main instrument. This set - costing roughly a quarter of that price tag - will make the instrument in tune and playable. For me that's enough.

I'm in the process of restringing my Bass VI and they don't
There's no ball end code for them! I'll have to dig out my microgauge to double check before I string up. I'll update when I'm done.

Total rubbish
Shocked at the poor overall quality. The colour codes seemed at odds with the actual thickness. They went straight through the bridge holes. These are going back.

Good upgrade on supplied strings
Had bough a Squier Bas VI - bottom E was sloppy, changing to these made a big difference though its only a matter of time till a bridge upgrade i fear. Knew i should have bought the Fender!!!

So called fender strings
These strings are rubbish I used fender strings all the time soon as you get close to tune the light strings break and also there is a dead sound no ring to them

Best roundwounds for bass vi currently
I’ve used 3 sets of those in first half of 2024, no quality problems encountered. 6th/E is tapered after nut (vibrato length included) and fits into standard and split peg holes, intonates properly (some bridge fiddling still required, just screw adjustments, no flipping/cutting or 3rd party parts). It’s a proper bass string now and not a puny 0.84 Tension is good, unlike other 3rd party brand, almost twice cheaper too. The only downside is that packaging doesn’t include color coding for 6 string configuration. Just in case, order is: Brass(Gold)-Candy Apple Red-Nickel(Silver)-Sea Foam Green-Graffiti Yellow-Lake Placid Blue

Great fit, wish there were more options.
They are really the only choice for my Fender Xii. Wish we could find a coated string like Elixir for a electric 12 string.
