Essential for recording, reliable even after a year!
I’ve been using the Sony MDR-7506 for over a year in my recording sessions as a singer, and these headphones have been nothing short of amazing. The sound is clear, accurate, and detailed, making it easy to catch every nuance while tracking vocals. There’s no unnecessary bass boost or coloration; just a clean, honest sound, which is exactly what you want in the studio. They’re comfortable enough to wear through long recording sessions, and the closed-back design does a great job of isolating external noise and preventing sound leakage into the mic. The build quality is solid too, after a year of regular use, they still feel as good as new. If you’re a vocalist, musician, or audio professional looking for dependable headphones for recording and mixing, the Sony MDR-7506 is an excellent investment. Highly recommended!

Comfortable and good sounding closed back under 8k
I love these headphones and this has become my daily driver. I use it for casual listening, movies and monitoring. Comfort: Very comfortable headphones. This is lightweight headphones and doesn't have tight clamping force. Works fine with most head sizes. The padding is light though not uncomfortable. I can wear it for hours comfortably. I may upgrade for a thicker pads when this one wears out. Build: Very well built. The headphones feels sturdy in hand and can survive my clumsy handling. It folds well and I can carry it in my backpack easily. The coiled cables is made of quality material but undetachable and insanely long. The long cables can be wrapped over itself quickly to shorten it - check youtube videos. Spares of most parts are available online - so you don't need to throw it away when something breaks. Sound: This is fairly neutral sounding phones with somewhat flat sound signature . Really crisp mids and lows with tight bass. The bass is not overpowering or physical yet is punchy - maybe passable for bassheads. It has more bass than my AKG K371 but not as much as Brainwavz HM55. Its slight extension towards lows and highs adds some coloration but I kind of enjoy it. So instruments may stand-up than vocals a bit. You can EQ it for really flat response if you want - google for calibrated eq settings. The listening experience is on par with K371 except for the soundstage. Sound stage is not very wide but enough for proper instrument separation. My laptop and mobile can drive this pretty loud, I listen at around 50% volume. Overall this is a good no-nonsense cans well worth its ~7k price tag. This model has been around for 36 years for its good engineering and value for money.

Amazing sound .. good build quality ... poor packaging
I was longing for a good beginner’s audiophile head phones. Undoubtedly these are great sounding pair of headphones , however they didn’t fit my ears thay well ( the fit was too tight for me and it was uncomfortable to wear them for too long). Hence I had to return them but I ll certainly be looking forward to newer models in this series. Review from my brief experience so far : Sound quality - just amazing. The sound is super clean and crystal clear, you can hear every single note , notice tiny instruments details which you’d miss othetwise .The bass is pure, well balanced , not too heavy neither too light just how i like it . Volume- Sound volume is suprisingly loud enough even for low levels Build - Build quality is good and sturdy. Though cushions could be softer. Comfort - I found the sound is easy on ears . However the fit was tight for my ears. It does get a little warm if you wear too long. Wish the cushions were softer Packaging- This was a big let down for me as the packaging was mediocre and looks downright cheap with use of plastic ( with scratches) and a silvery cloth which was glued on backside. Can you believe it. It doesnt feel ₹7k product. I even doubted if this was a first copy or what or i might got cheated . However only when I heard the sound I got reassured. I hope they have better packaging in brick stores. Anyways it was really pity that they were not a good fit for me else soundwise had loved them every bit.

Recomendo!

The sound isolation is quite good, although it could be better, I'm still very happy with it. They're comfortable too, and the sound quality is nice. They have a long cord, and after you remove the end piece on the cord, it's super easy to plug into your computer to start using it.

I had read about these headphones and seen them on a few videos with performers using them in studio. Even with these expectations, the Sonys are impressive. To my ears, they are detailed and revealing. They do enhance my enjoyment of the music and reveal stuff in tracks already familiar to me. Excellent value for the money sonically. Build quality is OK but not impressive. You can't have everything on a budget. Highly recommended for the price!

Quality headphones, like other HiFi equipment, are always going to be a highly personal, subjective thing. I own a few pairs of headphones. Each of them have their various pros. However, comparing these Sony MDR-7506's to other highly-regarded, similarly-priced headphones, for example, the excellent Sennheiser HD560S, the Philips Fidelio X2HR & the Sennheiser HD598, these Sony MDR-7506's are probably the ones that I spend the most time listening to music. I've owned them since February, 2024. Though in fairness, it's a very close thing with the equally superb Sennheiser HD560S. Both excel for overall quality in their price range. I use them with Cambridge Audio HiFi. Aside from the Sony's relatively lighter weight & added comfort for longer listening sessions, all without getting too warm, what I love most about them is their excellent clarity, brightness & vibrancy. I'd swear that I can hear more higher frequency music & detail on certain songs, more clearly, with the Sony MDR-7506's than with my other quality headphones. Though once again, it's a close thing with the brilliant Sennheiser HD560S's. The latter offer better overall separation & depth, but their RRP is also significantly higher. An unqualified 5 Stars for the Sony MDR-7506's. They excel with their excellent clarity & vibrancy among other similarly-priced, quality headphones. Outstanding value!
