Packaging is the weak point of this particular version of the product. After opening it and using it for the first time, the filler seems to harden up a bit in the nozzle. I had to run a wire down the nozzle hole to get it to flow again with each use that was more than a half-hour after last use. I also tried to knead the tube before use, but that didn't seem to help since the tube is so stubby. I have not used this product in a larger package, but I suspect if you could get it out of a can you could stir it before each use. The filler had a somewhat gritty texture, so you have to apply it and work it with as few strokes as possible, as it will smooth out -- don't worry or fuss with it too much after applying it though because it will lose any smoothness you achieved. Also suspicious that the packaging issues may have contributed to the gritty texture. The product sands out well and takes stain OK as far as wood filler goes -- not as good as real wood but better than Minwax High Performance Wood Filler.

A woodpecker pecked a bunch of holes in the stained cedar on our porch post. Since I don't know if/when said woodpecker is coming back, I felt that patching the holes was the best course of action for now. This stuff works great. Easy to apply and work with. It is slightly dry but very workable. It dries hard, and I was able to scrap it down then sand it with no issues. It took the stain fairly well. Unless you know about the repair, from any normal viewing distance, you can't even tell I had to repair the boards at all. This even filled in (with two applications) and pretty substantial hole and held up well with no shrinkage. I can't comment on drying time as I gave all of it a few days, and even when I did the two applications, it was 24 hours apart.

The product is partially dried up in the tube and is very hard to work with.
