So clear and easy to follow
It is written mostly for kids (and beginners). Simple, clear instructions and all illustrated. Cute. Older people with larger or unsteady hands may have trouble with small size projects.

Awesome Craft!
I remembered doing this as a child, so when I saw it, had to have it for my 10 year old. She loved it, then all her friends wanted one, so we got three more! This is so much fun for the kids and each one turns our different. The directions are super easy and really the hardest part is wrapping the cardboard. It has every single thing you would need to make any of the projects on the box. This is a great craft! We loved it!

Great summer idea!
I ordered this for our granddaughters as they had mentioned they would like to try some 'string art'! Each granddaughter received an item and all have been excited to start their new projects.

Great starter kit, easy instructions.
I got this as an introductory kit for my daughter and I to 'learn' how to make string art so we can branch out and do special art shapes. As far as the size of each thing, you get two 'big' cardboard backings that are about half the size of a sheet of paper each, and four 'small' cardboard backings that are about 1/4 size a sheet of paper. The paper you use to cover the cardboard is typical scrapbooking paper, but it has markings on the back to help you line up where the cardboard needs to go. We did the heart shape to start and only used half the blue string (embroidery thread) in the kit. There's plenty left for other projects! We had extra craft ribbon to attach to the back once we were done, but if you don't have any ribbon you might want to get some.My daughter is 7 so we did this together - I stuck the pins in place on the cardboard backing and let her use the tool to push them down. She was able to run the string between the pins for a while, but as soon as it got stuck she'd let go of the string and it would undo the previous times she'd gone around pins.We noticed that the designs pop a bit more if you outline the shape with string once you're done filling the middle, but that wouldnt work on every design. I really wish the cardboard pieces to use were bigger, but we'll just reuse the box Amazon delivered it in and go by the scrapbook paper section in the store if we want to make a really big one. Basically this is the perfect starter kit!

Great present for a kid
I use to make these when I was a kid so I was so excited to find a kit for my 11 year old daughter. She got it for her birthday and has LOVED making them. They are all over her room :) Her 9 year old sister is also able to make these easily. It came with easy to ead instructions, tongs of string and pins, and boards to start projects. I would recommend this as a present for older kids.

Pretty string art!
I would gift these to a kid 10 and older. There is quite a bit of setting up to do...putting the little nails into the cardboard once you've selected your design sheet. My 10 year old granddaughter really liked it and did a great job. These are crafts worth keeping!

Great concept, but pushing tiny pins into cardboard doesn't hold up
Great concept and the 8 yr old we gave it to has already done the first project - the heart. The problem is that there's nothing holding the pins in place because they're just pushed into cardboard. So if you can imagine taking a thin sewing needle or thumbtack and pushing it into a piece of cardboard, you can imagine how easily the slightest bump (from young fingers) will knock those pins astray or push them in too deep, or worse - make them loose such that they fall out of the board. Then you get stuck having to disentangle your thread and remedy the situation and begin again. It's a test of patience for a little kid. I love the look of the product and the concept of empowering the kids to do neat crafts. But the flimsy cardboard backing makes it feel cheap and then often fall apart under the stress of the constant push & pull of the string and the constant bumps from little hands.I wish the makers had come up with a pin & backing solution that was firmer. It might require a little more dedicated use of the insertion tool that helps you get the pins into the base but in the end you would wind up less frustrated and with a craft that's more durable.
