Fun
Fun and silly way to learn about simple machines.

Nice intro to simple machines.
Great for kids to explain simple machines in a fun way that they can understand. When possible explained why these machines were so helpful in relation to gravity and friction. Not too much detail though especially with the pulleys, but enough new vocabulary to make this book a great part of a unit on simple machines. Covers: levers, pulleys, and wheels. Does not cover: screws, inclined plane, or wedges. Glad I got it in a hardback for longevity. My only complaint is I think the children's faces could have been drawn better... but that is a small complaint.

Great DYNAMIC story for kids
Such a amazing way to give kids an introduction to physics of weight, leverage, moving and lifting heavy objects. The two characters are boy and girl - so it should appeal to both boys and girls. The book keeps the kid's attention thanks to a number of amusing subjects that need to be lifted. At one point you need to turn the book to a vertical view - because the story goes HIGH into the tree. It is a very dynamic story (no pun intended) for all kids to enjoy.

Great Explanation for my Pre K Class
My Children range from 3-4 years old and this book will help them to understand the basic functions of wheels and axels, pulleys, levers, and how simple machines are helpful. They can understand how simple machines make life easier.. Thanks for the delightful story

Great intro to Simple Machines
This is an adorable book and a great way to teach about a number of simple machines (levers, wheels and axels, pulleys). I'm using it to teach Kindergarten through 2nd graders in the Jr. FIRST Lego League competition. It's hard to get through to a bunch of excited kids who just want to play with legos but this book is fantastic and held their attention.

Books on sciences for kids
My 7 year old just learnt a whole unit on simple machinesat school. They did some exciting hands on experiments too.I thought a book would elevate the concept to the abstract levelthat she can put in her mind.I can then see it in my mind...... as she added. She can see/spot simple machines in a lot of places where I would not even think of looking.

Perfect! Even for an 8th grade science class!
I used this little book for a class assignment after teaching simple machines and the kids loved it. I gave them the challenge of how to lift a lion, given what they had learned about simple machines! Fun! They came up with the notion of having a "girl" lion at the top of an inclined plane with a "boy" lion at the bottom :)

Great learning book for kids. Funny and informative.
A great way to learn. It has fun drawings for kids to look at, explains all of the concepts very easily. I wish I had this series of books when I was a kid instead of the boring stale ones. Highly recommended if you want your kids to learn while reading.

science explained in a very child friendly way
My daugher is currently learning about simple machines at school. I brought this book at school and the teacher read it to the class and everyone loved it. It has funny colourful illustrations which help to explain basic scientific principles behind simple machines: the lever, pulley etc.

useful physics experiences
very useful we think in helping young children have some science experience if they problem solve and work out solution for themselves, hands on experiences important so they 'feel' the physics.

I have enough of reading this book!
My son fell in love with it from the first reading. I am fed up reading it 3 weekd in a row EVERY EVENING! Great book for introduction of fractions. Must read for every child.

It's a good book, but the ebook format is terrible
It's a good book, but the ebook format is terrible. You will need a magnifying glass to read this! It is so small it is almost unreadable. And it does not allow for any manipulation on the screen (impossible to enlarge the pages).
