Q: What size saucer would I need for these five gallon grow pots?

The pots are about 13 inches wide. Mine sit on racks that I made from old refrigerator shelves, so that when I water, they drain onto the deck. I prefer to not have them sitting on saucers that catch the runoff.

Q: How do these Smart Pots drain? I'm intrigued but wouldn't want something that just flushes water and stains my deck.

Would not place on deck, it drains primarily through the bottom slowly, and would stay wet on your deck underneath the pot. You could see if there is a tray made for them, they produce great plants!!!

Q: are the 5 gallon ones the same size volume wise as a 5 gallon bucket?

I'm not sure but it takes me 2 bags of potting mix to fill one 5 lb smart pot my plants are growing like crazy right now. I now have 4 zuchinni growing in and 1 yellow squash starting to grow in. lots of tomatoes, peppers. I have picked 1 zuchhini , 3 jalapeno peppers so far.
