A Good Kind of Spicy!
I've never had anything quite like it, but it's a great blend of spices! In terms of spiciness, it's something I like and can handle (I'm not a fan of spicy food), and my husband enjoys (he loves spicy food). I use it in tuna/mayo filling for onigiri with a dash of siracha and do not have to adjust the spice levels between our lunches. Very unique, and allows you to still taste what you're eating.

Perfect spice level!
This is such a delicious spicy seasoning! First had it in Okinawa 30 years ago. It's still a great seasoning! Even rimmed a glass with it for a Bloody Mary! 😋

LIVEN UP THOSE BORING FOODS WITH A LITTLE SPARK OF FIRE
Not too hot but it is spicy! Save your empty shaker bottles and refill them when empty. With a bulk refill bag (available from Amazon), also from House in Tokyo, I think you can fill about 18 individual bottles for the price of about 3 or 4 individual bottles - a real savings. The bottle is important as the contents are hot and there is a single hole about 3/16 of an inch in diameter in the white interior cap under the red exterior cap.. You need a big enough hole for the sesame seeds to come through, but not so large that the seasoning flows out profusely. In the past (until the late 90's), until the Feds noticed it, this seasoning mix also used to contain black hemp seeds. These seeds were larger and provide a "crunch" to the seasoning. mix. It still tastes great even with the hemp seeds. At last checking, it still contains hemp seeds for the rest of the world. What do I use this on? Wherever I would use black pepper but want more "bite". I use it on/in soups, stews, tuna salad, egg salad (and all such salads), green vegetables, green salads, sliced cucumbers, chicken and pork, mashed potatoes, KFC chicken, and on and on. I used to buy this at my favorite sushi restaurant where there was a bottle on every table. The bottle is only about 3 1/2 inches tall by 1 3/8 inches wide so it is "suitable for table service" and easy to handle and hold. I used to pay $5.00 for each bottle from that restaurant back in the late 1990's. Delivery of the Amazon product will take a bit of time as bottle come directly from the seller in Japan - well packaged in bubble wrap. Expiration date was out 2 years in the future. Gave a bottle to a little old lady neighbor who told me her food was tasting tasteless and boring and she was worried. She objected to my gift saying she would never use this spicy seasoning. I said I would leave it there until I ran out and needed it (not true). A couple of months later I asked her for her full and unused bottle. She looked down and said quietly that the bottle was empty, it was now her favorite seasoning, and her grocery store did not carry it, and she did not know what to do (since I needed it back). I laughed and said I had plenty and I would refill her empty bottle immediately. She smiled and said "Thank You". Highly Recommended! You will literally fine hundred of uses for it. Remember, slightly hot with a little bite but not too much bite.

The best crushed pepper blend
I LOVE this stuff! I buy it regularly just for my use but since I’ve been using it my son, his girlfriend and her family have all started using it. The blend has an earthy, savory flavor. The heat is similar to very fine crushed red peppers. It’s much easier to control the depth of the heat because of how finely it is crushed. I don’t detect salt flavor at all. It’s a bit pricey, not horribly, and well worth it.

I read about this in a food magazine and was curious - and I’m glad I bought some because it’s so tasty! Perfect for sprinkling on ramen and stir fries. It’s pretty hot, so be careful.
