Thomas Nelson NKJV Bibles – Beautiful. Trustworthy. Today. Commissioned in 1975 by Thomas Nelson, 130 international and multi-denominational Bible scholars, church leaders, and lay Christians worked for seven years to create a completely new, modern translation of Scripture that retained the purity and stylistic beauty of the King James Version. The New King James Version is faithful to the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic text, and also provides transparency to the recent research in archaeology, linguistics, and textual studies in the footnotes. The result is a Bible translation that is both beautiful and uncompromising--perfect for serious study, devotional use, and reading aloud. About Comfort Print The NKJV Comfort Print Typeface was designed by 2K/Denmark as a special commission. The typeface takes inspiration from clear, distinct Aramaic limestone inscriptions of the Second Temple period and pays homage to the NKJV's rich heritage of word-for-word translation. The result is a distinctive new Bible typeface that is uncompromisingly beautiful, bold, readable at any size, and perfectly suited to the NKJV Spirit-Filled Life Bible . Review: Will help you to understand God's love and grace and the work of the holy spirit - This is a really great study bible especially if you are looking for a first time study bible it has lots of pages and is kind of heavy I used to be KJV only but have come to love the NKJV because its almost exactly like the KJV except it takes out the way they talked when KJV was releasedit doesnt include thee thou and words like sayeth instead has a lot of word you and better to understand. It is filled with God's love and grace and will help you to understand God's love and grace and also to study the bible. I got out of living a fear based relationship with God and living by works and having religious perfectionism this study bible has helped to reinforce the work of God's love and will help you if you read the bible and feel condemned or are struggling to understand. It's got great notes a big section rather than few which i didnt like that many study bibles dont have enough notes this has extra parts to help you to understand and also included prayers and has a good outline of yhe original text that is very well to read rather than making you feel overwhelmed. If you are looking for your first time study bible or are considering buying this I would reccomend it, don't be thrown off by the title of the study bible. Godbless. Review: Dozens of Bible scholars right in your hand. Amazing! - My wife has the hard cover, and had the soft cover before that, and it has been such a MASSIVE blessing to us. My John MacArthur study bible, which I also love, is pretty tattered and torn, and while I'll never get rid of it and have it open alongside the Spirit-filled Life Study Bible, I HAD TO have my own. Caught the burgundy leather bound version on sale for just a bit more than the hard cover, and treated myself. What a massive blessing. SO FULL of biblical scholarly wisdom and teaching. Hard to put down.

The ideas leap off the page straight into my heart.
I have been in church and mid week Bible studies since before I could walk, but this Bible makes the Word leap off the pages straight into my understanding. In one reading, it has become my favorite book for leisure reading as well as spiritual. Having the commentary and Strong's Concodance references on the page where I am reading and not having to have two additional (very heavy) books alongside makes reading a joy. Showing nuances of definition of words from ancient languages and applying them to the reading broadens one's knowledge and appreciation of the Word. The blank center of each page leaves room for notes and also acts as a chain reference to where key precepts are found elsewhere in scriptures. The end of each chapter recaptures the key concepts. I am in love with this Bible. If I lost everything, it would likely be the first thing I replaced.

Really nice reference Bible
Really helpful bible for reference. Written by several pastors, it has a reference on where, who and when books were written. Very helpful when studying a particular chapter. Great for someone who is getting a Bible for the first time or someone who has been reading a long time.

I can't put this bible down!
What a perfect size. The font is totally readable and enhances the experience (way to go 2K/Denmark). The layout is an invitation to read: simple bible text with little to no distractions. References on the sides of the page are a great idea. All the references you might desire are there but they're out of the way - they don't interfere with your ability to pay attention to the bible text. The slightly cream toned white paper is sublime: wonderfully opaque and easy to page turn. The line matched text solves ghosting issues you've doubtlessly hated in previous bibles. I LOVE the red text (not words of Christ in red, this is a black letter edition) - it is the perfect artistic accent and it's functional as well. The red under gold art gilt page edging is so beautiful. It's a joy to open this bible up to see that red tone appear - a red tone matched to the red text (wow!). And even the three double sided silk ribbons (two black, one red) match the overall design of the bible. The goatskin is ... amazing ... this is my first goatskin bible and I'll not go back to any other type of leather again. It is nicely floppy on the first day. The bible feels like it is fully broken in on the first day you open it. The leather has a nice (naturally) pebbly texture but also feels somewhat smooth and is edge sewn for years of use. The edge gilt on the inside of the cover is beautifully done and perfectly frames the text block when the bible lies open - which it does flawlessly. The spine of the bible lacks raised dividers instead having printed dividers. They do the job nicely and the dual thin gold lines at each location is a very nice artistic touch adding to the overall presentation of the finished product. Simple text on the spine tastefully complete the overall design: HOLY BIBLE ... New King James Version ... Thomas Nelson. Nothing else is needed. Things that are somewhat unimportant to me but should be mentioned in case these matter to you: the bible maps are nicely done and the sizable concordance is impressive (albeit the font is a bit small). Note I'm in my 60's now and I've noticed many of my old bibles (old, dear friends) seem to have shrinking text recently. Ah, 60's ... oh joy. That is what drove me to seek out bibles with the 2K/Denmark fonts. This has been such a delightful surprise. The bible is a complete invitation to read. I read it daily and wish I had more time to devote to it. This is, to date, the best bible I've ever owned at any price point. I gladly give this bible my highest recommendation.

Best single colum NKJV ever made!
This is the best single column NKJV Bible yet! I have used a Cambridge Clarion, a Humble Lamb limited editon., and an Allan too. The paper on this one is just as good as you will find anywhere. The font size combined with the Bold modern print is excellent. This combined with the single column layout makes it the ideal Bible for daily use. One of the highlights that is unique to this particular Bible is that the headings are in red print as well as a cross reference footnote indicators. I cannot emphasize enough how thrilled I am that someone thought of this. It is superior to Skyler's Quintel Bibles in this regard. The goatskin leather is wonderful and the size is smaller send the Quintel series but bigger than the Clarion series. One drawback is the weight. Because the paper and the font are so excellent it does result in a very heavy Bible by comparison to others its size. But due to all the other advantages this Bible has it is by far my all-time favorite Bible. This is saying a lot considering I have owned all of the best brands and several translations over the years. I am very picky and hard to please normally when it comes 2 luxury Bibles like this. However, if I can only pick one luxury Bible that I could have. This is now my choice because of fantastic layout and printing on the page. I like the goatskin a lot but it is not as fancy or perfectly executed like an RL Allan Bible or a Schuyler Bible. But for the price the trade-off is definitely worth it. I've now purchased several of these and have been able to see a fairly broad range quality in the handcrafted black suit skin covers. For example some have small blemishes and Imperfections in the leather. One has a problem with some of the gold and printing where was not done very well. Another one has some glue residue the got on the cover. All this is to say that the quality control it went into these Bibles it's pretty poor for a luxury Bible line with a retail price of $159. But none of these things affect the durability or usability of these Bibles. But you should know this going into a purchase so I share it with you. And all of the above Bibles I decided to keep them and not return them because they were minor imperfections and worth every penny at the kind of deals you can get them for on Amazon. With those caveats aside I highly recommend you get your hands on one of these while they are still readily available. I predict you will begin seeing Cambridge Clarion Bibles decreasing in price rapidly as people abandon that line to buy these for a fraction of the price. They do not come with the words of Christ in red in any addition. Case you were wondering.
