Excellent product and not just for tattoos!!
I just got my 9th tattoo done about 5 days ago and didn’t want to spend almost $15 on Aquaphor. I searched for tattoo balms here on amazon and came across a few products, this one included. I’ve never heard of this product before but the reviews were great and the price per ounce was excellent, especially compared to the well known tattoo products. I received this product on January 20, 2020. It came in a cool box and the product itself it in a round tin container with nice graphics on it. I opened the tin and tried the balm on my new tattoo, which is dry and scaly at this point of the healing process. There is hardly any scent at all and the consistency is silky smooth. It made my tattoo feel immediately less irritated as well as soothed. The dryness was gone and it felt amazing. I’ve been using it for only 3 days and it works so well that I also started using it on my dry hands! The winter weather makes my hands dry and rough and this product softened it. I also use it as a cuticle balm for my fingernail cuticles that also get dry in the winter and lead to hangnails that are painful. This product softened them as well!! Not only is my tattoo healing better (see pic), but my hands and cuticles are softer! I highly recommend this dual purpose tattoo balm. It’s an amazing product and the value is excellent. I like it better than aquaphor and A & D ointment , which I normally use for my tattoos during healing. It’s cheaper and works so much better. I’m so glad I came across this product. Thanks for making this!!

This stuff works great for making tattoos pop!
I have been using this tattoo balm for years and it’s been working very well. Any time I am going out somewhere and wearing short sleeve shirts or tank tops, I put a thin coating of this on my half-sleeve tattoo to make the colors just a little more vibrant (although it’s kind of hard to tell in my before and after photos). A little bit if this goes a long way so I don’t apply much, but it works well and doesn’t leave my skin feeling too oily. I recommend this balm for anyone who has tattoos and wants them to look brighter or more defined. I haven’t used this balm before getting a tattoo or for aftercare so I can speak to how well it would have worked during the healing process but I’m sure it would have been helpful if I had been using it at that time. My only gripe is that they changed the container from the taller style to an almost flat style container. The new container is extremely hard to grip for opening it because it’s so thin. Once I finally got it opened, I made it a point to not put the lid back on too tight. I hope they switch back to the original container in the future but I still love the product for what it is and give it 5 stars with an asterisk that the new container was the wrong choice.

Packaging changed!!!!
Who ever approved the packaging changed is CRAZY!!! Worse decision ever made! Amazing product but this new container is IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN!? How can I stab it before I can open it! I have bought this balm 3x already and this is the first time with the new container and it's so stupid... Change it back!!

Read this first if you’re new to tattoos (or I guess new to tattoo balm).
First things first, I’m forever a user of tattoo balm after using this and tattoo goo. I used tattoo goo first, but I think this one is a better value for the amount you get plus it smells good. I’m not paid by them, I just enjoy this product and find it to be better than what I used to use. I’m over 10 large tattoos deep and almost 2 full arm sleeves so I’ve tried a lot. Water based lotion is often recommended for tattoos and IT’S STILL GOOD, but I recommend balm after using it for my last 3. A tattoo is an open wound technically speaking, so a balm from a healing and moisturizing perspective is better than a lotion. I’m not going to pretend to know the science behind it, 2 of my nurse friends explained that to me so I’ll let someone who knows better than I do explain that. I’ve cut my healing and peeling time for my tattoos from 2-2.5 weeks with lotion to 6-7 days for peeling with a few residual days of dryness with balm. Beyond that, the quality of healing is FAR better. Far less touch ups. In the pictures I posted, I had nothing touched up on my Shenron (green dragon) and hardly anything for the colorful ones on my forearm. Perhaps the biggest improvement is that my tattoos get infected far less, virtually zero now. If you’re new to tattoos, “infection” isn’t necessarily bad. It’s pretty common for anything remotely large or detailed. Just means the tattoo scabs a little deeper with a deeper wound and it takes longer for that part to heal and peel. Whatever part of your body your tattoo is on WILL be oily, sticky to any clothes, etc etc when you use this balm. Your hands will be slick from applying and require washing well to remove it. But, a week ish worth of discomfort from that is absolutely worth it for a lifetime of a good quality healing for your tattoo. As a moderate/experienced person in getting tattoos, I recommend using balm instead of lotion and will continue to use this one unless I find a better one. Thanks for the great product!

This stuff is awesome!!
Love this stuff so much I’m on my second jar! Helps tattoos heal faster and also helps with itching. Not a greasy feel it soaks into the skin pretty fast and can put a shirt over it without staining or getting the shirt oily. Doesn’t have a strong smell and one jar has lasted me a while. A little goes a long way with this stuff. I use it every now and then to make the colors pop!

Top pick of the 4 products I tested
I’ve got a few tattoos. I recently spent a day getting quite a bit of work done to finish my sleeve. I actually had to travel out of state to see my artist after he moved, and I didn’t think to bring anything with me after the session other than the traditional Aquafor. A couple of the new tattoos ended up being pretty dry. Colorado is a semi-desert and it’s been nothing but fires this summer. I can’t remember the last time it rained... needless to say, my skin was incredibly dry. Aquafor is petroleum-based and seems to sit on the surface of my skin and just makes things greasy. I decided to try out several different products to see how well my skin and new ink responded. Of all of these, the Viking Revolution was by far my favorite. I’ve used their beard oil before and I like that product too. Compared to the other products, the Viking Revolution 1. Goes on really smoothly 2. Is hydrating and moisturizing 3. Has a light and pleasant smell I compared this product to Tattoo Goo and Mad Rabbit Tattoo Aid. I’d say that this product is very similar to Tattoo Goo. In comparison to Mad Rabbit, this product doesn’t last as long and doesn’t penetrate as well, however it is much smoother and smells much much better. I plan on using this product to hydrate my tattoos in the future. I really like how well it works and smells and it is easy enough to keep on my bedside table or pack on a flight.

New ingredients?
This used to be 5 stars! It was soft and easy to apply. It melted on my fingers and spread wonderfully. Now it is very thick and waxy. It doesn't melt, it's not creamy and I'm very disappointed.
