The Battleship Bismarck (Anatomy of The Ship)

Outstanding!
I don't normally write reviews. Sounds like a cliche doesn't it but it's absolutely true. I only write a review if something is truly exceptional and this book undoubtably is. I am building the Trumpeter 1/200 Bismark model and must admit I was struggling with the colours i.e., defining what was not grey!! This book does not give you paint specs but does have fantastic extremely detailed 3D colour views which I could not have done without. I am a retired aircraft engineer and can really appreciate the detail in this book which is beyond belief. If you are building a model of the ship or just interested in warships you will spend hours just browsing through this book. It is an incredible piece of work and worth every penny plus a lot more. Buy it!! You will not be disappointed.

Excellent Book
I have had an interest in the Bismarck ever since I read Pursuit by Ludovic Kennedy when I was a teenager and have 25+ books about the ship. This one is an excellently illustrated book breaking the down the structure of the ship into small sections. Great detail regarding the weaponry, ship layout etc - but as with many technical books about warships almost nothing about the propulsion equipment. for that reason, it is 4 stars from me.

Superbly detailed
I bought this as a photoreference work for a Bismarck kit I a have just started building hoping that it would give me enough detial to produce a realistic model.I was blown away by the quality and detail of the drawings and 3D rendered images and am confident that it will help me produce something of vasly superior quality that I would have acheived without it. Even if you are not a model maker but just have hankering for the inner detail of the Bismark, it certainly wont disappoint.

Not much to read but an awful lot to look at
This is an exceptional piece of work, targeted to a specific audience, that of the model makers. It offers exceptional quality renderings of the ship in all the exterior arrangements (and also some detailed internal arrangements of compartments). This book is not an interesting read for someone that actually wants to read a 200+ pages book. Not much to read in here. But for a modeler, it is a great resource answering almost all of the questions one might have about the looks and armaments on the ship. It also raises the bar a lot for what would be a realistic build, making things hard to build something that looks as stunning as the 3D renders. One thing I would like to have been included with this book would be a link or otherwise to a system where one can actually inspect the 3D model that Stefan has built, and look at some details from different angles. The author has posted a 3D view of the model on YouTube showing a view from front to back but while being better than nothing, it's somewhat limited.

A good view of Bismarck
Another book on the Bismarck, well she has to be one of the most written about battleships of WW2 a ship of legend and one of reputation, but what was she really like? This book is a detailed look at her construction, how she was built, and what she was actually like. The author uses modern graphics, excellent line drawings, and period photographs to present a very good overview of the ship covering all aspects of her construction, her life, and her sinking. The production qualities of the book are excellent throughout and it will dovetail very nicely with other works that impart the operational aspect of the ship's short life but the operational aspect is not the primary objective of this book.IMO a good addition to the ship's history .
