Great earplugs!
My wife and I went on a long trip abroad, including a long cruise. She snores and I'm a very light sleeper. Normally, at home I sleep with a loud fan going. On the trip, however, we didn't have the fan.I've used all sorts of earplugs in the past with disappointing results. I decided to give the Howard Leight Ll1 Lite Foam Earplugs a try. I'm really glad I did. They performed better than any earplugs I've ever used. Actually, they're pretty amazing!I followed the preparation and insertion instructions on the package (they're easy, but important to follow), and once they're inserted I could hear the earplugs expanding in my ear canal. Once fully expanded, I felt isolated from a sound perspective. It's like turning the volume control to mute! The only problem I encountered was after using them for a couple of weeks, I could tell that they were compacting the earwax in my ears and my ears were popping when I swallowed. I decided to experiment with the earplugs to see if I could keep them from causing the earwax issues. These earplugs are unusually thick and long compared to other earplugs I've used. (They're made of very soft material, so they're very comfortable to wear.) I took a pair of scissors and cut off about 1/8" to 1/4" from the tips of the earplugs, and I cut off a sliver from the side of each earplug. The earwax problem went away without adversely affecting the sound-deadening properties of the earplugs. I was very happy with the results.I recommend these earplugs. They're really effective!

Great value and work great.
These are some really nice earplugs. Block tons of noise, pretty easy to insert and are super comfortable. I can't even tell they are in except it is so quiet. I work night shift, so having it quiet in the day makes sleeping much easier. Before getting these, my kids would sometimes wake me up (not intentionally, just kid stuff), with these I never hear them.I have been using the same pair for about 2 weeks (2-3 times a week) and they still look and feel new (I keep them in a plastic film container when not in use). At this rate, this package of 50 pair will last me for years.edit: I have found that after using a pair around 6-7 times they are harder to put in (they don't stay compressed long enough to insert properly). Still, even if you use them every night, you will get about a years use from the entire pack, but for my usage pattern, the pack of 50 will last me 2 years.Update 2/2018: I am still on my original pack of 50 pair, and still love them. I also started using them when I ride my motorcycle, they work great for this also. Blocks out tons of wind noise, but I can still hear car horns, sirens, etc.

Best Ear Plugs, from an Ear Plugs Veteran
I don't often write reviews but this product demands it.I have been using ear plugs for over fifteen years, from military use, home use, and motorcycle riding. I went through many different kinds and brands of ear plugs, from the cheapest foam ones to fancy custom molded ones.I first tried the Howard Leight Laser Light about five years ago, and was immediately impressed. They seem beefy, but they are very easy to insert into the ear, and they feel very comfortable once inside, without causing any pressure. My wife and I both use them, she has much smaller ear canals than I do but they fit her very well too. I can easily ear them for long hours, including sleeping with them at night or going on long motorcycle rides, and forget they're there. In terms of noise reduction, they reduce more noise than any other ear plugs I've tried but they have great attenuation, so you can still have a conversation or hear traffic while using them.Overall, I think these are the best ear plugs I've tried out of the many different types I've used so far in my life, and I will continue using them as long as they are manufactured.

Holy Grail Status
Once I figured out how to easily insert these, they were golden -- the holy grail of earplugs. I have tried lots of brands, including the waxy cotton types that you massage before using, which are considered to have the highest rating as far as noise protection. They have the same noise blocking capacity but much easier to insert and more comfortable to wear.It took me a while to figure out how to use these. I almost gave up on these because I was having trouble inserting them correctly. I found the trick through reading a comment here. You have to wet the tip. I keep a little plastic bottle of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide on my bed stand. I put a few drops of the peroxide in one palm, use my other hand to roll the tip of the earplug into a narrow shape, dip the tip into the peroxide, and slide the plug into my ear canal. Moistening the tip makes all the difference in ease of using these! The soft foam then expands in the canal and you can literally hear the noise turn off, like a switch, as it reaches its full width. I have a air purifier that runs during the night and is fairly noisy. It is about five feet from my bed. After I put in these earplugs, I can't hear this appliance at all, despite its close proximity.Because these are soft and on the lighter side, they are easy to sleep with them in. And depending on personal preference, you can reuse before switching to a new pair. In short, these are really worth a try if you're looking for an outstanding sleeping earplug.

Larger than the older version but still good
These are without doubt the most comfortable earplugs I've ever used. I have inexplicably small ear canals considering my very large head, and these fit pretty well. They don't make my ears sore overnight like most earplugs do. They're very good at sound dampening, and reusable. However, they are a bit bigger than this exact same model number was a few years ago, and they don't fit my ears as well as they used to. They still fit reasonably well, but they do not slide as far into the ear canal and therefore do not provide quite as much sound dampening as in the past.Still recommend them highly, especially if you have sensitive ears. They are high quality, and definitely worth the money.
