Designing Car Interiors: Volume 1 - Looking Back and Sketch Techniques Paperback – September 11, 2018

I’ve been collecting educational car design books for over 20 years and I have never seen one dedicated to car interiors like this. This is a visually beautiful and highly informative introduction to the history and design of car interiors. Not only do we get the history of interior car design but the culture in which helped drive the Design. Seeing the evolution of the interiors in a easy to understand graphic presentation allows the reader to truly understand the evolution of the interior through technological advances as well as in design.Additionally we get beautiful car sketches and interior car sketches created by the author throughout the book. Making this not just educational but something to revisit just for the artwork.I highly recommend this for everyone interested in cars , car design, and product design from beginner to professional. Having taught car design for nearly 10 years I can’t stress enough how invaluable this book is for students. I can’t wait for future volumes for further knowledge and insight into interior Car design. My hope is that once complete with these 3 volumes on interior design he’ll do the same for exterior design.

I think it’s ridiculous that I have to review a book before I get past the title page. Way to go Amazon. Trying to figure out why I pay a subscription for this nonsense. Otherwise I ASSUME the book will be fabulous!!

This book gave a great look at what goes into designing car interiors. the materials used are also pointed out and step by step views help the reader to understand the process. The book is one of two and shows a historical progression in design techniques, styling and materials/equipment used to achieve the desired effect.

I must admit I have known Tim Pilsbury for a number of years but this really is a unique and informative book. Tim’s insights come from working at a number of car companies especially Audi the leader in Interior design. All of the other books are exteriors and this is so far the only one on a career that all designers should consider! Some of you who buy this will have their lives changed.

Dislike was it was over 20 dollars for a book that is 60 pages.

Good design and quality very good stable material to use when designing any type of vehicle of your dreams

As a designer after buying and owning many different car/industrial sketch books or concept arts books , this book seems to be on the light side of being very informative for designers... It may be a good starting point for an undergrad to inform about design principles and drawing techniques...but for a designer/design student I will have to say just skip this and but the 2 volumes that should complement this volume with techniques, processes and principles of interior design there are many more alternatives with extensive inspirational sketches for this price tag...

Good for designers and general public alike. One spends a lot of time sitting in and using a car interior, find out how it is created and what it needs to do.

Very interesting book,really enjoyed the explanations presented.Can be extremely useful for a young aspiring designer to understand the techniques required to design car interiors.Due to the high quality of the work,it can also be very helpful to experienced designers as well as car enthusiasts since they get a taste of how car interiors are developed in their respective creative phases.Excellent,I highly recommend it.
