GEAR AID Kotu Tanto Fixed Blade Knife for the Outdoors with Quick Release Sheath, Titanium-Coated 3” Blade

I was looking to replace my pocket folders. I dont like folders too much. They loosen up, fall apart, and can be dangerous in that condition. I found this knife, fair price, and it has a removable belt clip. Glass breaker and the bottle opener are just bonuses. I wanted to horizontally carry it and i was able to rotate the belt clip 90° to put it on my belt the way i wanted it. Not too big. Not too small. Nice balance so if youre good at throwing knives, this is also a great knife for you. Havent put it through major use yet, but it does have a decent edge to start with.

This is a great knife that attaches easily to MOLLE vests and works well.

Excellent value - the knife is decently sharp and well-made. I specifically bought it for the Molle attachment feature so I could put it on a backpack. Other plastic knife sheaths have closed loops, so they're not really compatible with Molle - you'd need to do some tying and experimenting to get them to work. The open loops on this knife sheath fit perfectly with Molle loops and hold the knife very securely. I'm mystified why more knife makers don't make Molle-compatible sheaths. It also mounts perfectly on my bicycle right below the seat post.

I live in Illinois, Illinois knife law states you cant carry a blade longer than 3" on public property (Which is practically everywhere.) I purchased this knife to be in compliance with Illinois knife law while practicing EDC. It has a good grip, a good knock/window breaker, and the blade came sharp. The knife itself is good. The sheath however is not as good. I find the sheath lock clumsy, and hard to disengage when my knife is on my hip, this adds time to the knife extraction, and with EDC time is important. overall I'm happy with the purchase, but I will be exploring alternative sheath options with this knife.

I have this knife mounted to the outside of my backpack, so it's always my nearest/most easily accessed knife. The sheath has multiple mounting options, but I have it mounted to a molle clip so I can move/re-orient easily, as needed. Added bonus: Customer support is top-notch. My sheath snapped during one of the re-orientations and a simple email with a photo to customer service yielded a replacement sheath in the mail a few days later! A++

Overall it’s a good knife. Comes with a good edge on it out of the box. It sharpens up well after you’ve dulled it a bit. I’m on my second one, the first one fell victim to my wife. It was within easy reach and she used it for who knows what and then left it on the bumper of her truck. We did find the knife a couple miles down the road but the plastics were broken off so it wouldn’t latch into its sheath. I’m just going to make my own replacement handle for it. Needless to say I liked it enough to buy a second one of the exact same thing. I recommend.

Llego con buen filo, por ahora el clip esta bien se coloca muy bien en el cinto y el seguro con el que se sujeta el cuchillo esta perfecto, se siente bien sujeto y es facil de sacar y guardar. El acero es de buena calidad el espesor esta bien. Solo falta ver como se comporta con el tiempo y uso.

Bonne qualité, la lame coupe bien et la prise en main est confortable. Idéal pour la pêche et les activités en plein air. Bon rapport qualité/prix.

This little knife and sheath is a great buy for the money! The knife came super sharp! Well-built amd solid construction... excellent for attaching to molle pack or body-armour plate carrier etc... the sheath is unique in that it works into existing molle and once attached is super secure! No need for additional straps or para-chord threading. EXCELLENT KNIFE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
