Q: It appears from the picture that the bottom edge of the tiles are rounded. Arethe edges art the top the same ?

They are square tiles, maybe ever so slightly rounded, they are very nice quality and a good value.

Q: would this be good for kitchen countertops?

It's porcelain so there shouldn't be any problem. It's really difficult to find 3x3 tiles in this color cobalt blue.

Q: Can these tiles be separated? I have to replace a 2 x 3 section of tile on a pool spa.

Yes. There is a mesh they are all attached to that can be cut with a knife or scissors. You can leave as many attached to each other as you need and they then have the proper spacing in between for the mortar. Each tile is 3 x 3 so if you need a 2 inch section you will have to cut one tile with a tile saw.

Q: Can this be used outdoors where it freezes in the winter?

Wish I could help, I'm in South Florida. Used them on an outdoor cement chair, we don't get cold enough weather in the winter.
