SECOND SCALE HAS SAME PROBLEM - cant get the same weight twice in the same minute
Solid, somewhat old school ( no bluetooth) scale purchased when gym owner recommended this specific brand to me to get a bodyfat measurement. I didn't expect it to be a "real" measurement, but I expected it to generate a consistent relative baseline. I am pretty low in bodyfat, so I expected a small amount of variance. I I know that time of day, hydration levels, etc can affect the number. But try as I did to measure a consistent time of day, time before (or after exercise), tried first in the morning, etc - just too much percentage swings in the measurement. Example - gym measurement with calipers was 9.3% - on this scale I got number higher (that's ok..I just wanted it to be a consisent baseline) - but it varied from 11% to 15% - from day to day despite no weight increase or decrease. I just use it now as a 'more expensive' scale for weight in another bathroom. Update - it's now been 4+ months of ownership. I aldready knew I had no confidence in getting a consistent (I didnt say accurate - just consistent) bodyfat number. It has now spread to weight. For example, I followed the same routine this morning, wake up - bathroom - strip clothes - turn on scale - read weight after it beeps to say 'ready'. I did this 5X - I turned it off, walked away, came back, turn it on, measure. It gave me a different weight EVERY time. To be fair, I am a bit neurotic - so if all you read are lbs, then fine. But if you actually read the tenth of the lbs - I got everything from 147.2 to 147.8 and everything in between within 10 minutes - up and down - all else the same.... I did not pay more for this brand to get this lack of precision. UPDATE: Just to followup, TANITA sent me a replacement scale. It sat in the box a long time, and after unboxing, it has the exact same issues as the first scale. Getting on the scale, off the scale, back on - resulted in weight measurement fluctuations of .6 to .8 lbs. When you are trying to accurately measure, this is too much variance. And this is short interval off and on......this is not 3 hours apart, more like 1 minute or 2 minutes. I have another digital scale, way cheaper, from RENPHO that worst case will fluctuate 0.2 lbs if you get on, off and back on. I dont really care if the weight itself is accurate, but i do care about the fluctuation......

GREAT, GREAT product - we love it!
Purchased this product after joining Weight Watchers and wanted a quality scale. THIS IS THE ANSWER. Incredible value for an incredible product. I'm the #1, husband is #2, and I hear him every morning using this scale. He's never done that and the fact that you get your % of body fat and water...AWESOME. This scale rated HIGHER that any of the Weight Watcher scales and has been totally accurate, .2 difference every week of my weigh-in weight with Weight Watchers, for the last 5 weeks. Considering the Weight Watcher scale in stores is a commercial, thousand plus dollar scale and this has been the same .2 difference every week, I trust this scale more than theirs! You won't be sorry if you purchase this product. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY!!!!

Stops working after a couple of months
The hydration / body fat feature was spotty out of the gates but it worked enough that I didn't send it back. It worked just long enough to run out the "return window" so now I'm stuck with a scale that will only tell me my weight and does not provide hydration or body fat data. Kind of a waste of money. I have tried to contact the company to trouble shoot and every time it goes to voicemail and nobody calls me back. Please use a different company if you don't want to be disappointed.

So far so good
I bought another Tanita from Amazon a few years ago but it started to go bad within I would like to say 2-years tops. I searched high and low and found that Tanita is still a highly respected brand when it comes to scales. I was browsing the Tanita website and saw that they were going to release this scale in December of 2011 (this was back in Sept/Oct of 2011) and decided I'd wait to purchase it. My concern about it being made out of glass is that what will happen if it experiences something dropping on it or it being moved and dropped on accident? So far I have not had any problems with the glass or it being scratched or damaged. I do not keep this in the bathroom rather my living room. The scale varies my weight each time I step onto the scale, usually within 1-3 pounds. It is never consistent. However, I still feel that being 1-3 pounds off is within reason. You can program it for two people, so for yourself and your partner or yourself and your child or yourself and whoever. I guess the water percentage and the body fat percentage seems to be accurate. My old Tanita had a button to press for just weighing yourself and upon first use I could not seem to figure out what button it was. I finally figured it out, it is the last button in the vertical buttons. If you hit that button, you'll see the scale come on, wait until you see the 0.00 come on and then step onto the scale. This is very helpful for people who just want to see what they weigh and for guests who might use the scale.

Worthlessly inconsistent
Entirely inconsistent. No home body fat scale is going to be truly accurate. But for both that and weight, what you need is consistent readings. This does not provide that. At all. Both the bodyfat percentage and weight swings way too wildly. And yes, even when considering normal water weights fluctuations. This isn’t my first rodeo, and this product does not provide a consistent tracking tool. I really wanted it to work, especially with the advertising around using multiple BIA sensors or readings whereas most home body fat scales use just one, and I even called the company and left a message asking for help, which never got returned. You’re much better off with a cheaper FitIndex scale. That one is being very reliable for me.
