Magnesium oxide is used as a buffering agent and it does not affect the way the magnesium bisglycinate is used by your body. Q: How much magnesium glycinate is recommended to prevent migraines?

Hi Lisa,Thank you for your question. There isn't a blanket amount of magnesium that you should take to prevent migraines, as everybody's needs are different, depending on your health, diet and lifestyle. Saying that, I would recommend taking a higher dose of magnesium initially (300mg twice a day) and if that helps with your migraines, reduce the dose to 300mg a day. I also find that B vitamins can really help, specifically B2 (200mcg), B6 (12.5mg), B9 (250mcg) and B12 (200mcg), as well as CoQ10. This combination can really help with migraine prevention. Q: Can these be opened and taken in water or a smoothie?
